The Saudi-led bombing campaign against Yemen and the UKs involvement

Theresa May has reportedly raised concerns over the situation in Yemen as Saudi Arabia continues its bombing campaign targeting Houthi rebels. But Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have documented more than 70 unlawful strikes, thousands of civilians have been killed and 80% of Yemen are in need of aid. The United Kingdom is the second biggest arms dealer in the world and has licensed £3.3 billion worth of arms to Saudi Arabia since the bombing began.With this evidence emerging there are increasing calls for Britain to stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia. Afghanistan: Pamlarena siege ends in Kabul after suicide bombers kill 24

Three Taliban gunmen and one civilian have been killed Kabul in a 12 hour police siege marking the end of a day of carnage in which 24 more people were killed and more than 90 wounded in twin suicide attacks outside the Afghan Ministry of Defence. The siege followed three blasts in the capital in 24 hours, two have been claimed by the Taliban. Sep 6, 2016

British MPs are set to discuss South Koreas dog-meat factory farms in a Westminster Hall debate on 12 September. The first Parliament debate on Asias dog meat trade was held in November 2015, however, South Korea was not a focus, despite the fact that it is the only country in Asia that breeds dogs specifically for human consumption. Mary Rose skulls exhibited online in 3D for the first time

The skull of a carpenter from the Mary Rose, which sank 471 years ago, is among the items which have been turned into 3D models on virtualtudors.org. Other items include a knife handle and some rope from the ship. It was leading the attack on an invading French fleet north of the Isle of Wight. Discovered in 1971 and raised in 1982, the wreck held around 19,000 artefacts and 179 skeletons. A further nine skulls are to be exhibited in 3D for scientific use. Sep 5, 2016

Giant pandas are no longer endangered but eastern gorillas are

Thanks to an increase in available habitat, the population of the giant panda rose 17% from 2004 to 2014 and they are no longer considered endangered, and their status has been changed to vulnerable. The eastern gorilla however is now critically endangered. The shocking collapse of Grauer’s gorilla numbers is due to illegal hunting and civil unrest. Injured black bear breaks into school then goes on the run

A black bear with an injured leg broke into a village school in north Chinas Shanxi Province, before going on the run from people trying to help it. The bear went missing for five days, leaving paw prints around farmland and houses before he was eventually tranquilised and caught. It was then moved to Taiyuan Zoo for treatment where the bear is expected to stay for a month, before being released back into the wild. Sep 5, 2016
