India, Bangladesh security forces vow to resolve border issues

Siliguri, Sept 25 (ANI): The security forces of India and Bangladesh vowed to resolve issues of infiltration, trafficking and smuggling by criminals alongside the border with an aim to enhance bilateral relations between the neighbouring countries. Bangladesh and Indian border guards attended the annual Director General (DG) level meeting which was organised from September 14 to September 19 and discussed issues like cattle smuggling and fake currency. The Inspector General of the paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) north-Bengal frontier, S K Sood, said that they had received a positive response from the Bangladesh officials in order to resolve border issues. Awaran, Sept 25 (ANI): The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Pakistan rose to at least 208 on Wednesday after hundreds of mud houses collapsed on people in a remote area near the Iranian border. The earthquake struck Pakistan's thinly populated province of Baluchistan on September 24 and was felt across South Asia. It destroyed houses and cut communications with the worst affected district of Awaran, and was so powerful that it caused a small island to emerge from the sea just off the coastline in the Arabian Sea. New Delhi, Sept 25 (ANI): Opposition leaders slammed the government over the contentious Nuclear Liability Clause after the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) gave its clearance, paving way for signing of an agreement between Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) and America's Westinghouse. India is making a last-minute push to close a nuclear deal in time for a meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has made atomic energy cooperation with Washington a hallmark of his tenure. Under the proposed deal, India would contract Toshiba's U.S. nuclear unit Westinghouse for preliminary works, including information sharing, a senior Indian official said. The aim is to build nuclear plants in the state of Gujarat.
