Telangana issue: Chandrababu Naidu demands amicable solution from Congress

New Delhi, Oct 09 (ANI): As Supporters of the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, protested at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday, after they were not allowed to enter its premises while their leader continued his indefinite fast against the formation of Telangana, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) chief Prafulla Kumar Mahanta visited Andhra Bhawan to express solidarity with Naidu. Trains cancelled in view of anti- bifurcation protests in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam, Oct 9 (ANI): Around twenty trains were cancelled as the announcement of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh evoked violent protests, forcing the authorities to clamp a curfew in the region. Deepening the crisis, the Electricity department employees stalled work, plunging large parts of the region into darkness. As a result of the power crisis, many trains have been cancelled. A fresh round of talks failed on Wednesday between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and the striking power sector employees, who are reportedly not stepping back. Political analysts have observed that the move to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, by the center ruling Congress was to shore up its political fortunes.

Veerappa Moily on save fuel mission, to travel by metro

Azad Market Building collapse: 1 dead, four feared trapped

New Delhi, Oct 09 (ANI): A three- storey building collapsed in the Azad Market area in the national capital on Wednesday morning killing a person and injuring others. Four people are feared to be trapped under the rubble. Five fire tenders have rushed to the spot and are engaged in the rescue efforts. According to the witnesses, the building fell like a pack of cards and it sounded as if the area was struck by an earthquake. More details are awaited.

International terrorism expert calls for banning Jamaat-e-Islami

Dhaka, Oct 9 (ANI): International terrorism expert and an academician in Singapore, Rohan Gunaratna, called for the banning of Bangladesh's top Islamic party, Jamaat-e-Islami, for spreading prejudice, suspicion and hatred resulting in widespread anger and acts of violence in the country. Gunaratna said that there should be movement in South Asia against the exploitation of religion. Gunaratna said that extremist and militant groups in Bangladesh have emerged from Jamaat-e-Islami ideology. Eleven Maoists surrender in Odisha

Malkangiri, Oct 9 (ANI): Eleven Maoists, including a woman cadre, surrendered after a brief encounter with the police in Malkangiri district of Odisha. A surrendered Maoist said that they had joined the ultras under a misconception and left after being abused by them. Superintendent of Police, Pramod Kumar Bag said eleven members had surrendered. Over 50 Maoists have surrendered in the area in last four months as they had enough of ill treatment at the hands of their superiors. The rebels, also known as Naxals, have fought for decades in a wide swathe of central and Eastern India, including many resource-rich regions where tensions run high between poor farmers and industrial developers.
