Anand Shankar, former DGP of Bihar, believes that the Naxals brainwash innocent farmers and force them to join their ranks. Shankar added that teenagers are forcibly recruited by them and villagers are terrified about raising their voice against them. Shankar also said that there is an urgent need to formulate a well-planned strategy which makes use of latest technology to fight the Naxals. Naxalism has plagued the country for many decades. Naxals have consistently killed innocent people and security personnel. The Indian government has described Naxalism as the biggest internal security threat to the nation.

Fodder scam: Jharkhand HC rejects Lalu Yadav's bail plea

Ranchi, Oct 31 (ANI): The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is serving a five-year prison sentence in connection with the multi-crore fodder scam case. The 66-year-old Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief had moved the court on Wednesday, but the latter chose to reserve its order for Thursday after hearing the CBI counsel's objections to granting Lalu bail.

Fresh violence in Muzaffarnagar is result of vote-bank politics of SP Govt: BJP

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday condemned the fresh violence in Muzaffarnagar, saying this is the result of vote-bank politics of the Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh Government. Four people, including a woman, have been killed in two incidents of violence in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, where communal clashes last month had left over 60 dead and 45,000 homeless. The clashes occurred in the Bhaurankalan police station area, when people from two communities fought a pitched battle in which three youngsters were shot dead. The administration has imposed Section 144 in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
