Workshop to preserve and promote traditional headgear and dress held in Manipur

Manipur, Oct 17 (ANI): These artisans are skilled in making traditional headgears and dresses. Around 25 artisans from different tribes and communities of Manipur are participating in a ten-day long workshop in Imphal. In Manipur, different tribes wear distinct headgears to highlight their identity. The workshop is being held with an aim to revive and promote traditional headgears and dresses. Elders from different tribes taught the youth how to make the headgear. The workshop has been organized by the Tribal Museum and Research Centre (TMRC) in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangralaya (IGRMS), Bhopal.

Sleep very important to maintain healthy lifestyle

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Three new studies have shown that in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, it is important for adults to seek treatment for a sleep illness and aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. One study of 2,240 adults is the first to examine the link between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and mortality in Asians. Results showed that all-cause mortality risk was 2.5 times higher and cardiovascular mortality risk was more than 4 times higher among people with severe OSA. Another study of 2,673 patients in Australia found that untreated OSA is associated with an increased risk of motor vehicle crashes in very sleepy men as well as near-misses in men and women. Participants with untreated OSA reported crashes at a rate three times higher than the general community.

2nd chargesheet against Khemka highlights Congress' double standard: BJP

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): The BJP on Thursday assailed the Congress government after a second chargesheet was filed against senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka, who had earlier exposed the land deals done by UPA President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in Haryana. Obama signs bill to end partial shutdown, delay debt ceiling crisis

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): US President Barack Obama on Thursday signed a bill ending the two-week US government shutdown and extending the Treasury's borrowing authority. The US Congress passed the bill to reopen the government and raise the federal debt limit. The Democratic-controlled Senate's bipartisan compromise won approval by 81 votes to 18. The deal was then passed by 285-144 in the House of Representatives, whose Republican leadership begrudgingly agreed to support the measure.

Haryana govt files 2nd chargesheet against Khemka

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Haryana government on Thursday agreed to file second chargesheet against senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka, who had earlier exposed the land deals done by UPA President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in Haryana. Khemka is likely to be given a major penalty under the service rules, according to sources. Khemka has been charged with administrative misconduct and exceeding jurisdiction for cancelling the mutation of the Rs 58 crore land deal between Vadra's company, Skylight Hospitality, and estate major DLF in October 2012. He had also ordered an inquiry into the undervaluation of land deals done in four districts in Haryana, adjoining New Delhi, by Vadra.

Rahul Gandhi to address Congress rallies in MP today

Election commission issues notice to Kailash Vijayvargiya for violating code of conduct

Indore, Oct 17 (ANI): The Election commission issued a show-cause notice to Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya for violating the model code of conduct by distributing cash to people during a function. The district collector, Indore, Akash Tripathi, said that the Election Commission has asked Vijayvargiya to reply by October 18. While defending himself, Vijayvargiya, said that he would work in accordance with the norms of the election commission.
