Indian Postal Banking has lots of scope due to connectivity, says Communications Minister

New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): Even with widespread retail banking in place, India's postal banking service has a large scope due to its connectivity, stressed Communications and IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday. Prasad was inaugurating the Postal Savings Banks Forum in New Delhi, which was organized by World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) jointly with the National Savings Organisation (Ministry of Finance) and the Department of Posts. The theme of the forum was "The Rising Force of Postal Banking in the Retail Banking Market". Prasad said that postal banking transcended the rich and poor barrier, the biggest asset being the network of post offices throughout the country. Govt submits the list of black money account holders to SC

New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): The Government of India submitted the list of all black money account holders to the Supreme Court on Wednesday as directed. Attorney General of India Mukul Rohatgi said that the government has submitted a list of around 627 names who have their accounts in HSBC bank. He added that all assessments have to be completed by 31st March 2015. The sealed covers will be opened by SIT which will proceed according to law after opening the seals. Oct 29, 2014

Karachi, Oct 29 (ANI): Pakistan Police claimed to have arrested four suspects allegedly involved in facilitating the perpetrators of a deadly attack on Pakistan's busiest Karachi Jinnah International Airport in June. Additional Inspector General of police from Crime Investigation department (CID), Saqib Ismail, said that the arrested men abetted the militants who had launched the attack. Another police official said the suspects were detained from two different areas in the eastern part of Karachi. He said that police recovered a large number of weapons from the arrested men. Three Bangladeshis lynched to death in Tripura

Tripura, Oct 29 (ANI): Three Bangladeshis, suspected cattle lifters, were lynched to death in a village of Khowai district in Tripura. The incident is the second such in the district this year. Of the three victims, one opened fire and initially managed to escape but later all three were badly beaten by the villagers. Two of them were rescued by the police and taken to hospital where they succumbed to injuries. The third one, who was rescued later, also breathed his last in the hospital. The police have also recovered two 12 bore pipe gun cartridges from the area. The intruders are residents of Habiganj district of Bangladesh. Gujarat, Oct 29 (ANI): As cyclone Nilofar is expected to hit Gujarat coast in a couple of days, authorities have intensified relief and rescue arrangements as precautionary measures to handle the cyclonic storm. Nilofar, classified as a 'very severe cyclonic storm', is expected to weaken to a 'cyclonic storm'when it makes landfall on the Gujarat coast, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). On Monday Gujarat weather office issued a high alert on the cyclone and said the storm has intensified turning into severe one. In the wake of the situation, Commander of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Rakesh Kumar Joon, said 60 NDRF teams have been deployed in the regions which are at high alert.
