Micromax unveiled the company's first ever Windows Phone OS powered handsets - Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 - in India on Monday.
Canvas Win W121 is the top-end device among the two smartphones. It sports a 5.0-inch HD (1280x720p) display and ships with 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 series quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB), an 8.0-megapixel camera, a 2.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a 2000 mAh battery.
Entry-level smartphone Canvas Win W092, on the other hand, sports a smaller 4.0-inch IPS screen and features 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (expandable up to 32GB), a 5.0-megapixel camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera and a 1500 mAh battery.
"With our vision to democratize technology and belief in providing consumers with choice of platforms, we are pleased to introduce a new range of Windows-based phones. I am pleased that Micromax is the only Indian mobile phone brand to be present across the two most popular operating platforms in the world," said Sanjay Kapoor, Chairman, Micromax.
Both Micromax devices ship with the latest Windows Phone OS v8.1 but it has to be noted that the popular personal voice assistant feature Cortana (full version) will be made available in India only next year (Developer preview beta version is available at Windows app store in USA). Win W121 and W092 are priced ₹9,500 and ₹6,500 respectively and are expected to hit stores in July.

Micromax Canvas Win W092 will be up against budget Android phones Moto E, Lava Iris X1, Nokia X, Nokia X+ and the company's own siblings Canvas Engage, Unite 2, Canvas A105, Xolo Q600s, while Canvas Win W121 will compete with Nokia XL, Lumia 520, 525, BlackBerry Curve, Samsung Galaxy S Duos, Xolo Q700s and others.
