BS Yeddyurappa writes to Advani on joining NDA

Bangalore, Oct 20 (ANI): Former Karnataka CM and Karnataka Janata Party chief BS Yeddyurappa wrote a letter to NDA chairman LK Advani with a request that his Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) be made its ally. Mr Yeddyurappa, who quit the BJP in a huff last year to form his own outfit, is a known Narendra Modi loyalist.

Floods following cyclone Phailin force thousands into rescue homes in Odisha

Puri, Oct 20 (ANI): Floods triggered by cyclone Phailin, which has left a wave of disaster in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, left hundreds of villagers stranded in eastern Puri district, forcing them to take shelter in rescue homes. At least 15 people have died in this fury of nature. On the sixth day of the floods, the embankment of River Malaguni broke due to the force of the flood waters and many villages in Odisha were marooned. Though the water has started receding but around 50,000 affected villagers have nowhere to go as their houses were washed away with the floods.
