Road accident kills six in Assam

Sonitpur, Jan 31 (ANI): Six persons were killed in a road accident in Sonitpur district of Assam on Saturday. The collision was between a bus and a car carrying a marriage party on the National Highway 15. The marriage party was on their way from the wedding 200 kilometers away, to the groom's house. While four people, including the married couple died on the spot, two others died after being brought to a nearby hospital. The car was totalled. Chennai, Jan 31 (ANI): A school in Tamil Nadu attempted to make a record for the largest book reading session on Friday. A total of 2234 students of the Velammal Matric Higher Secondary School in Chennai gathered in the school grounds to attend the reading session. Senior students took out time to read to their junior schoolmates as they sat on chairs together. The book that was chosen was 'Dora the Explorer', which revolves around the adventures of a young girl and her pet monkey. New Delhi, Jan 31 (ANI): A new research has found that drinking more than two alcoholic beverages daily in middle-age, raises heart risks more than traditional factors. The study sorted out the data they collected from hospitals based on stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes and other cardiovascular incidences, and compared them from alcohol and health risks like high blood pressure, diabetes and smoking. The researchers found that heavy drinkers had a 34 percent higher risk of stroke compared to light drinkers, and mid-life heavy drinkers were likely to have a stroke five years earlier in life irrespective of genetic and early-life factors.The team of researchers added to their findings that heavy drinkers had increased stroke risk in their mid-life compared to well-known risk factors like high blood pressure and diabetes. A leading smartphone company surveyed 2,000 Britishers and found that a quarter of men shares selfies to make their ex or current partner jealous, a leading daily reported. Bollywood Director Sharique Minhaj said that Bollywood was not able to do justice to its relation with Kashmir. However, now there is a visible change in this perception and Bollywood is going back to highlighting the picturesque beauty of Kashmir. Odisha, Jan 31 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated scientists for the successful test-firing of India's longest range ballistic missile Agni-V. "Successful test-firing of Agni V from a canister makes the missile a prized asset for our forces. I salute our scientists for their efforts," the Prime Minister tweeted. Agni-V was successfully test-fired on Saturday from a canister on the Wheeler Island off the coast of Odisha. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), this is the missile's third launch.
