The four-day eighth edition of India Stonemart 2015 began on January 29 with an aim to showcase the world of natural dimensional stones, ancillary products and services. Around 300 participants including around 100 foreign participants are showcasing various kinds of stones and their products at the exhibition. Stonemart serves as a platform to the exhibitors to promote their products, services and brand image among the consumers from across the globe and establish business linkages. Nagpur, Feb 1 (ANI): A Blind Car Rally for visually-impaired citizens began with much gusto in Nagpur on Sunday. At the rally, though the vehicle was driven by regular drivers, they were being guided on directions by visually-impaired citizens using a navigator in Braille. Around 100 visually impaired navigators were selected to drive across pre- selected city circuit. Head-on collision of two trucks kills 11 people, injures 13 others

Jodhpur, Feb 01 (ANI): Eleven people were killed and 13 others injured in a head-on collision of two trucks in Rajasthan on Sunday. The injured were rushed to a local hospital in Jodhpur for treatment. The passengers of the mini-truck were en-route to Bolunda village in Pali district to cast their votes in the panchayat (village council) polls. Reportedly, out of the 13 injured, seven are in critical condition. A survivor of the accident, Rekha said that things happened suddenly. The people travelling were artisans, all from the same village. Police also reached the hospital to take stock of the situation. The police will investigate the matter to ascertain the reasons behind the accident. Feb 1, 2015

Reactions from political circles flow in as 1984 riots panel favours re-investigation in many cases

New Delhi, Feb 1 (ANI): Days ahead of the Delhi Polls, the Centre is reportedly deciding upon setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe those cases which were closed by the police and did not reach courts. While the Congress and the AAP raised doubts over the timing of such revelations by the BJP government, the SAD welcomed the decision. According to reports, government-appointed committee has recommended constitution of a SIT for re-investigation of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases. The committee headed by former Supreme Court Judge Justice (retd) GP Mathur has submitted its report to Home Minister Rajnath Singh last week and recommended fresh probe of the anti-Sikh riot cases through a Special Investigation Team, official sources said. India's first double hand transplant successful, say doctors

Kochi, Feb 01 (ANI): Doctors successfully conducted India's first double hand transplant on a train accident victim in Kochi city of Kerala. The surgery was conducted at Amrita Institute of Medical Science on 30-year-old Manu, who received the hands of a 24-year-old road accident victim. Over 20 surgeons conducted the surgery that took over 16 hours over January 12 and 13. At least 110 successful hand transplants have been conducted so far in countries like US, European countries, China and Australia, since the first one in France 13 years ago. The patient, Manu, expressed his delightfulness and was eager to get back to his daily chores. Head of the Plastic Surgery Department, Amrita Institute of Medical Science, Doctor Subramania Iyer, called it a major feat for Indian doctors. He further said that both the hands were accepted by the patient's body 14 days after the surgery. Manu would be able to move his hands on his own soon and sensations will slowly return in three to four months, Dr Iyer added. Feb 1, 2015

EC issues show cause notice to AAP

New Delhi, Feb 01 (ANI): The Election Commission (EC) has issued a show cause notice to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for violating the Model Code of Conduct. The notice was reportedly issued after Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay complained about the AAP's posters depicting his party's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi without her permission. The AAP has been asked to submit its reply by Monday, failing which the poll panel would take action against it. Kiran Bedi had earlier sent a legal notice to her rival Kejriwal for using her images in AAP's posters without her permission. Adding to the party's woes, a police complaint had also been filed against AAP leader Kumar Vishwas on Saturday for allegedly making sexist comments against Bedi at a recent rally held in the national capital. Japan's Defence Minister says video showing beheading of Japanese journalist 'appears genuine'

Tokyo, Feb 01 (ANI): A video purporting to show the beheading of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto by Islamic State militants appears genuine, Defence Minister Gen Nakatani said on Sunday. Islamic State militants said on Saturday that they had beheaded Goto, after the failure of international efforts to secure his release through a prisoner swap. The hardline Islamist group released a video which seemed to show the beheaded body of Goto and threatened further attacks on Japanese targets. Japan condemned the actions of the militants and said Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's cabinet would meet in response to the video, which showed a hooded man standing over Goto with a knife to his throat, followed by footage of a head put on the back of a human body.
