Woman gangraped in Mumbai, three accused arrested

Mumbai, Feb 04 (ANI): A 21-year-old woman was gangraped in Mumbai, on the intervening night of Tuesday (February 03) and Wednesday (February 04), said police. All the three accused were arrested from the crime scene itself. The victim was on her way home when the culprits befriended her at the Reay Road railway station. The four boarded a local train together as the accused promised to drop her home safe. However, as they de-boarded the train at Cotton Green station, the accused threatened the victim and took her to a truck parking nearby, where they took turns to rape her. A police party which was patrolling in the area rushed to rescue the victim hearing her cries and arrested the three accused from the spot. The accused reportedly work at a goldsmith workshop, while the victim is a slum dweller. A medical examination of the victim confirmed rape. Feb 4, 2015

India-Bhutan friendship car rally kicks off in Siliguri

Siliguri, Feb 04 (ANI): The three-day long Indo-Bhutan car rally covering Himalayan ranges kicked off on Wednesday (February 04) from Siliguri town in West Bengal. The rally has been organized by Friendship Car Rally Association of India and Bhutan Friendship Association to strengthen relations between the two neighbours. The car rally, which is being held after two years gap, would cover a distance of 850 kilometers and would culminate in Bhutan's capital, Thimphu. Twenty participants from India and ten from Bhutan are taking part in this mega event. The extremely challenging route of pristine foothills and forests crisscrossed by rivers and mountain streams and high Himalayan passes of altitude of up to 13000 feet make the drive thoroughly adventurous. HOYA, the top provider of optical glasses, has recently developed new optical glass material process called "NRP". NRP improves lens material shape accuracy, surface defects less than 1/3rd and the thickness variation accuracy has improved 5 times over the current company standard. It could significantly reduce the allowance of polishing lens and reduce the processing fluctuation. The raw material for optical glass varies by the type of lenses. Heavy snowfall disrupts normal life in Kashmir

Ramban/ Shimla, Feb 04 (ANI): Heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir hit electricity, water and blocked national highway, disrupting normal life. Roads in Ramban area were filled with snow making it difficult for vehicles to ply due to which people had to walk long distances carrying their luggage. National Highway-44 was completely blocked, restricting transportation. State's capital city, Srinagar, on Sunday (February 01) had received season's first snowfall bringing cheers to residents. However, snowfall did not bring much delight to residents of Ramban district. As per local media reports, the weather department has predicted snowfall for next three days. The minimum temperature recorded was minus 0.2 degree Celsius. Reportedly, an avalanche warning has also been issued in higher reaches of the valley. Meanwhile, hill town of Shimla also received three to 90 centimeters of fresh snowfall. Minimum temperature recorded was two degree Celsius. New Delhi/ Bengaluru/ Mumbai, Feb 04 (ANI): Fuel prices have been reduced by Rs 2.42 for Petrol and Rs 2.25 for Diesel with effect from the midnight of February 3rd and 4th. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said it would cut the retail price of diesel by about 4.7 percent and that of gasoline by 4.1 percent from Wednesday (February 04), as global prices have eased since the last revision. AAP leader Ashish Khetan said that slashing of fuel prices was a stunt by the Central government keeping February 07 Delhi polls in mind.
