Fukushima: Opposition squashes hopes for future tours of nuclear plant

Opposition and sensitivities surrounding Fukushima have put an end to plans by a group of individuals in Japan who were hoping to turn the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into a tourist destination. The plan had been for ordinary people to visit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear site without wearing radioactive protective suits by 2036 and had been in an early stage of planning. Kiev: Protesters demand release for Nadezhda Savchenko detained in Russia

Protesters gathered outside the Russian embassy in Kiev on 9 March to demand the release of a Ukrainian female pilot Nadezhda Savchenko detained in Russia. Protesters urged Moscow to free Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot on trial in Russia on charges of complicity in the killing of two Russian journalists. Savchenko, 34, was captured by pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine in June 2014. She denies any wrongdoing. Mar 10, 2016

Nancy Reagans casket placed at Presidential Library for public viewing

The casket of former US First Lady Nancy Reagan arrived at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California on 9 March. Following a small ceremony for friends and family earlier in the day, the casket arrived via a hearse and an accompanying motorcade to the library, where she will lie in repose on 9-10 March for public viewing. Tampas Lowry Park Zoo released video on 9 March, showing a set of new-born clouded leopard cubs that had recently joined the zoo.
