Polish police drafted into Harlow after Polish mans murder

Two Polish police officers are on the beat in the Essex town of Harlow after the murder of Arkadiusz Jozwik. They are there to support the Polish community after a rise in the number of hate crimes in the area. Six teenagers were arrested on suspicion of murder and have been released on bail, after Jozwik and another Polish man were attacked outside a row of takeaway shops. Giant inflatable moon disrupts traffic in China

The winds from Typhoon Meranti managed to free a giant inflatable moon which ended up rolling its way across parts of Fuzhou. Footage captured by motorists and pedestrians shows the half-deflated moon roll through a construction site before coming at people on the road. The Mid-Autumn Festival is being celebrated on 15 September, where traditionally people gather for family reunions, admire the moon and eat mooncakes, but because of strong winds from Typhoon Meranti many have been unable to observe the moon. According to local reports many Chinese cities have instead set up inflatable moons so people could celebrate the traditional Chinese festival. Sep 15, 2016

Polish football club Legia Warsaws 21-year wait for Champions League football was blighted by crowd trouble when they played against Germanys Borussia Dortmund. Bali tourist boat explosion kills at least one and injures 13

One person died and at least 13 were injured when a tourist boat exploded shortly after it set sail off the coast of Bali, Indonesia. The boat carrying around 35 passengers, including British citizens, was travelling to the Gili Islands. The dead person is thought to be German. It is unclear what caused the explosion but officials have been quick to rule out a bomb. Sep 15, 2016

Super-typhoon Meranti knocks motorists off bikes

Super typhoon Meranti has been hitting the southern Taiwan city of Kaohsiung hard, as powerful winds damage building and topple trees. Motorists have also been caught in the storm power as the video shows a taxi driver having to come the aid of a scooter rider after being knocked over and a biker being easily tipped by the strong winds. Kaohsiung was forced to close all schools and government buildings on 14 September, and it is reported that 200,000 homes are without power. Sep 15, 2016

Blood-stained floodwater runs through the streets of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on 13 September as rain drenches the Eid al-Adha festival. First male orangutan born in Smithsonians National Zoo in 25 years

The Smithsonians National Zoo, Washington D.C., welcomed its first male orangutan baby in 25 years. The Bornean orangutan was born on 12 September to 19-year-old female Batang and male Kyle, who bred in January following the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan. The IUCN considers Bornean orangutans “critically endangered”. Sep 14, 2016
