Devotees in Vadodara prepare gigantic 'Modak' sweet to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Vadodara, Sep 01 (ANI): A group of devotees in Gujarat prepared a gigantic dumpling shaped sweet, Modak, on the occasion of the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day popular celebration during which it is believed that Lord Ganesha bestows his presence on earth for all his devotees. The group had initiated to create the lord's favourite sweet weighing 800 kilograms for the people of Vadodora city. The sweet was made into five layers each consisting of a different ingredient. The organiser of the sweet making event, Ankur said that a team of seven to eight people prepared the biggest sweet in around 36 hours. Devotees buy decorated and colourful idols of Lord Ganesha and establish them in their homes for 10 days and revel in religious pageantry. Sep 1, 2014

At least 4 killed and 12 injured in Noida road accident

Noida, Sep 01 (ANI): Four employee of Motherson company, a private firm based in Noida were killed and over 12 injured when a bus carrying them collided with a truck in Sector 71 of Noida on Monday. The injured were immediately rushed to the nearest hospitals. Doctor said that a few are serious while others can be released on an immediate basis. The accident took place early in the morning when the victims were on their way to the Motherson company. One of the injured said that the truck collided straight on to the bus and that both the drivers didn’t pay attention. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Noida, Rajkumar Mishra confirmed the number of deaths. Sep 1, 2014

Clad in religious white dhoti, Shah visited the temple accompanied by security personnel. Shah later visited the BJP office in the state to strategise on the upcoming assembly polls. Shah is expected to discuss strategy with party workers in Thiruvananthapuram city to help BJP expand its foothold for electoral gains in the southern state. Pathankot, Sep 01 (ANI): Police arrested an Indian Air Force personnel in Pathankot city of Punjab for leaking inside information to Pakistan. Sunil Kumar was arrested at the Pathankot Air Force base for trying to sell India-related defense information to a Pakistani woman, Meena Raina. The cyber squad of the Pathankot air base monitored his movements via the internet with Raina and saved the conversations. After accumulating enough evidence against Kumar, Indian Air Force removed him from his post and handed him over to the police. Union Home Ministry reviews the security situation at Assam-Nagaland Border

Guwahati, Sep 01 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, who was in Guwahati to attend a meeting with the Chief Ministers of 8 Northeastern states, reviewed the security situation on Assam-Nagaland Border. He held talks with Assam and Nagaland Chief Ministers on the escalating border violence. Meanwhile, a curfew has been imposed in Golaghat following the clashes between the police and protestors. The Army also held a flag march in the violence hit areas to bring the situation under control. In addition to three companies of CRPF, 1,000 paramilitary personnel have been deployed and security pickets have been set up in the affected villages.
