Visva Bharti University sexual assault case: FIR registered against 3 students

Bolpur, Aug 30 (ANI): FIR was registered against three students on Saturday in the Visva-Bharati University alleged sexual assault case. According to reports, the prestigious University has suspended three students for their alleged involvement in the case. Police has initiated probe into the incident after the complaint was lodged by the University. The shocking incident came to light when a Sikkimese student studying in the university submitted a complaint against the three students of her department and accused them of sexually harassing her. The second-year student alleged that she was stripped and her pictures were clicked by them on their mobile phones. Aug 30, 2014

RS Pura, Aug 30 (ANI): Villagers in RS Pura district of Jammu and Kashmir lamented the damage to crop amid continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the international border. The incessant firing has led to damage to crop in the fields close to the border. Villagers at Abdullian, the last village on the Indian side, said that they were unable to tend to the crops. Bullet marks on buildings have restricted people to their homes. Children are unable to attend regular school as well. Officials rescue leopard from well in Nagpur

Nagpur, Aug 30 (ANI): A young leopard was rescued from an open farm well adjoining Mansinghdeo Wildlife Sanctuary near Khapa city in Maharashtra. The leopard is suspected to have fallen in the well while chasing its prey and was found struggling to float in the water. The forest guard and senior forest officials reached the site upon receiving the information from the field owner. The officials put a cot inside the well for the animal to cling on, which was then brought out with the help of a rope. Delhi court slaps Rs 3 lakh fine on Sheila Dikshit for non appearance in defamation case

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): A Delhi court in Saket slapped Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit with a fine of Rs three lakh for failing to appear before it in a defamation case filed by her against BJP leader Vijender Gupta. It the second time she has been fined in the case. The court had earlier also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Dikshit for her non-appearance. The court has now directed Dikshit to appear before it on December 20. Petitioner in the case, Vijender Gupta said that he has been facing harassment because of her absence and that the fine is imposed on complaint. Kapurthala, Aug 30 (ANI): The family of two Indian brothers, who are among the many workers held in Kuwait, pleaded the government to secure their release and safe return to the country. Brothers Manjit Singh and Daljit Singh hail from Punjab and were arrested with many Punjabi workers in the Arab country on Friday. Kuwaiti officials arrested more than a dozen Indian workers for allegedly murdering two Egyptian nationals. Family members of the two brothers said they had received a call from Manjit, telling them about the bad circumstances they were facing. Manjit’s wife, Jagdish Kaur also urged the government to do everything they can to bring the two back.
