Gadkari launches ETC system for Delhi-Mumbai Highway

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday launched the Electronic Toll Collection system for the Delhi-Mumbai Highway. The Electronic Toll Collection systems have already been installed at 55 toll plaza. Their integration with Central Clearing House (CCH) operators has almost been completed on the Delhi-Mumbai route via Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Gadkari said that there can be no fake tolls in the new system and since the data will be recorded so there can be no stealing. Oct 31, 2014

Bangalore rape case: Social Activists demand amendment in laws for safety of children in school

New Delhi/Jaipur, Oct 31 (ANI): Social Activists on Friday demanded demand amendment in laws for safety of children in school after a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a Hindi teacher on the campus of her private school in Bangalore. Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Barkha Shukla said that there needs to be law of on the spot punishment in such cases. AIDWA General Secretary Jagmati Sangwan said that holistic gender sensitization of schools should take place. Prime Minister Modi on Friday flagged off the campaign at Rajpath. Modi earlier arrived at Patel Chowk in the heart of Delhi, where he paid floral tributes to Patel on his 139th birth anniversary. Modi then administered Unity pledge to thousands of participants present at Rajpath addressing the participants of 'Run for Unity'. Six- year old allegedly raped twice by school teacher in Bangalore, accused detained

Bangalore, Oct 31 (ANI): In another such case of crime against children, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a Hindi teacher on the campus of her private school in Bangalore. The police have detained a 40-year-old suspect who is the victim's teacher in connection with the case. He added that there was only one CCTV camera on the campus and a complaint has also been filed against the school for not complying with safety guidelines issued by police. However, Block Education Officer SM Ramesh said that said that the school followed the guidelines and is a state recognized institution. Reportedly, the victim had complained to her mother after the incident took place on Tuesday and again on Wednesday after which the mother approached the police seeking further help. Seven-storey building collapses in Pune, several feared trapped

Pune, Oct 31 (ANI): A 7-storey newly constructed building collapsed in Pune on Friday with several residents, including a child, feared trapped under the debris. Police rushed to the spot and officials started rescue operation at the venue. The building had 20 flats in which eight families were living. Currently, members of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire brigade are trying to rescue one person. Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune, Chandrashekhar Daithankar said builder was taken into custody and the inquiry was going on. Charges framed against 10 individuals and 9 companies for money laundering in 2G case

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): A special court on Friday framed charges against former Telecom Minister A Raja, MP Kanimozhi, DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal and others for money laundering in a 2G scam-related case. All accused have pleaded not guilty. ED had chargesheeted 19 accused - 10 individuals and nine companies - in the case saying that the transaction of Rs 200 crore, which was allegedly paid to DMK-run Kalaignar TV, was "not genuine" and it was a "bribe for grant of telecom licences to DB Group companies". The accused had countered the claims of the ED contending there was no evidence to support the allegations levelled by the agency in its charge sheet. Oct 31, 2014

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon in New Delhi unveiled plaques in memory of six Indian soldiers, who won Victoria Cross for their bravery during the World War I. Earlier, Fallon said his country would never forget enormous service rendered by Indian heroes while commemorating their contribution in the World War I under the United Kingdom's flag. India's Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said these plaques will be sent to hometowns of the soldiers. This year marks the centenary of World War I, which was fought between 1914 and 1918. The UK has funded a battlefield guide book that will be available for those families, who wish to visit France and Flanders battlefields. Maruti's Chairman RC Bhargava said sales momentum was now slowing, and growth over the 2014-2015 financial year would average out at about 10 percent. Indian car makers are launching new and upgraded models of their cars, betting on improved consumer sentiment and an economic recovery under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new government. New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): The nation is paying tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 30th death anniversary on Friday. Congress Party President and Indira Gandhi's daughter-in-law Sonia Gandhi and members of her family were the first to reach Shakti Sthal, the memorial dedicated to Indira Gandhi to pay a floral tribute.
