Police bomb disposal squad defuses bomb found from train

Kamrup, Nov 25 (ANI): A powerful bomb, weighing more than seven kg, was recovered from a train compartment in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district on Monday, police said. Security personnel on duty in Up Lumding-Kamakhya Intercity Express spotted a plastic bag covered with a towel and wires sticking out in front of the compartment toilet near Kendukona Railway station under Rangiya sub-division. They immediately informed Kendukona station master and the train was halted there. The passengers were asked to disembark for checking the train thoroughly and senior police, civil and railway officials along with a dog squad of the Assam Police rushed to the spot and removed the bomb. Mumbai, Nov 24 (ANI): Politicos from various political parties offered their last respect to former union minister and senior Congress leader Murli Deora on Monday at the party office. The 77-year-old Congress leader was suffering from cancer. He breathed his last at 3.25 a.m. in Mumbai. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Several leaders including President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi have condoled the demise of the Congress veteran. Deora held several important positions during his decades-long political career. During the UPA-1 regime, Deora was the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Congress veteran had also served as the Mumbai Congress president for 22 years. He became Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology in July 2011. Nov 24, 2014

Indian Army recovers huge cache of arms and ammunition ahead of JandK polls

Srinagar, Nov 24 (ANI): Indian army recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday ahead of assembly election. The five-phase polls in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on November 25 and will end on December 20. The results are scheduled to be announced on December 23. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Kashmir-Based 15 Corps of Indian Army, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha said that linkage between recovery of large consignment of the weapon and the ceasefire violations cannot be ruled out. Saha assured that collectively all the security forces including Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were keeping a tight vigil at the polls related security. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars. New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 164.91 points up to stand at 28,499.54. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 52.80 points up to stand at 8,530.15. JSWENERGY and PERSISTENT were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.18% and 7.01% along with ALSTOM T&D and BEL with an increase of 5.74% and 5.55% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include RASOYA PROTEINS LTD and KAILASH with a decrease of 4.72% and 4.61% along with FRL. and ESSAROIL with a decrease of 4.57% and 4.19% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 12.74 points at 18,938.02 while the banking sector is up 243.66 points at 20,927.20 and the reality sector is up 26.39 points at 1,651.59. Election officials sent to polling booths via helicopters in poll bound Jharkhand

Gumla, Nov 24 (ANI): Election officials left for polling booths in the Maoist affected districts of Jharkhand via helicopters on Monday to prevent any untoward incidents ahead of polls that start Tuesday. Indian security forces had launched a massive anti-Maoist operation on November 11 to prevent any problem in the election process. District Election Officer, Gauri Shankar Mij said all necessary precautions are being taken in the Maoist affected districts for the polls. Maoists have called for boycott of the five-phased polls in Jharkhand that begin from November 25 and end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23.
