Security given on basis of threat perception: MHA on Modi's security

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): As the BJP Parliamentary Board on Wednesday passed a resolution demanding PM level security for its prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, Minister of State for Home RPN Singh said that security to an individual is given on threat perception. He also added that adequate security is being provided to Modi.

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Congress leader Jagdambika Pal on Wednesday criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal for meeting controversial cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan, who had issued a fatwa against Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. Amid political controversy, Kejriwal on Tuesday clarified that by meeting with Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, he was not playing any communal card ahead of the assembly elections.

Modi talks about good governance, can't control his ministers: Congress on Gujarat MP arrest

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Congress leader Jagdambika Pal on Wednesday slammed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, a day after the CBI arrested BJP MP from Gujarat Dinu Bogha Solanki in connection with the murder of a RTI activist Amit Jethwa in Gujarat. Taking a dig at Modi, Congress leader Jagdambika Pal said that the Gujarat CM talks about good governance in the country but cannot even control his own ministers.

Protesters demand India to boycott Commonwealth Heads Meet

Tamil Nadu, Nov 6 (ANI): Protesters in Tamil Nadu demanded India not to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo and urged the United Nations to intervene in the matter. According to media reports, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is yet to decide as to whether he would participate in the Commonwealth summit or not, which will be held in Colombo from November 15 to November 17. The protesters in Coimbatore took to the roads, shouting slogans and set an effigy on fire in the middle of the road, blocking the movement of vehicles.

Police arrest Maoist leader in Jharkhand, recover bombs

Jharkhand, Nov 6 (ANI): In two separate incidents in Jharkhand, police recovered 22 bombs and arrested a Maoist leader. Acting on a tip off in Latehar district of Jharkhand, the police managed to defuse the bombs, which were apparently planted to attack the security forces. Meanwhile, in Palamu district of Jharkhand, police nabbed a Maoist leader, who is believed to have been associated with several attacks by the rebels in the region. The arrested individual has been identified as commander Sikander alias Chappanji. The police said they have also seized a gun and some bullets from the arrested leader.

BJP MP from Gujarat held for RTI activist's murder, JD (U) assails BJP and Modi

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): The JD (U) on Wednesday slammed the BJP and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi after reports of BJP MP from Gujarat Dinu Bogha Solanki's arrest emerged in media. Finding inconsistencies in his replies and other circumstantial evidence, the CBI on Tuesday arrested Solanki in connection with the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethwa in 2010. Jethwa had filed a petition before the Gujarat high court against illegal mining in the Gir forests.
