Samsung Galaxy Star Advance, Star 2 Plus, Ace NXT Officially Launched; Price, Specification Details

Since the launch of feature-rich Motorola Moto E in May, numerous smartphone makers (both MNC and domestic) have been flooding the market with budget handsets vying to get more market share.

Now, Samsung, though a bit late in the race, has released three new entry-level Android KitKat phones - Galaxy Star Advance, Star 2 Plus and Ace NXT in India, to showcase its versatility of rolling out multiple devices at one go.

"Especially created for the Indian market Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT have been launched to provide a larger set of consumers with the experience of superior mobile technologies and richer internet experience at an affordable price," NDTV quoted Samsung India (Mobile & IT), Marketing, vice-president, Asim Warsi. 

First up, Galaxy Star Advance sports a 4.3-inch WVGA display with 800x480p resolutions and is powered by a 1.2GHz processor backed by 512MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB), 3.0-megapixel main camera (with LED flash) and a 1800 mAh battery. It comes with the price-tag of ₹7,400.

Galaxy Ace NXT and Star 2 Plus too pack pretty much the same specifications seen inside the Galaxy Star Advance sans the screen size and battery capacity. They are priced – ₹7,400 and ₹5,100.

Other mentionable feature of these Samsung smartphones are that, they are compatible with numerous Indian regional dialects such as Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Competition:

Going by the specifications and their price-tag, Samsung will have a tough time convincing price-conscious Indian consumers who are spoilt for choices with numerous affordable phones in the market having much superior features.

For instance, the popular Moto E comes with price-tag of just ₹6,999 with water-resistant screen, dual-core CPU, Gorilla Glass 3 shield and the list goes on. Even domestic players like Micromax (Canvas Fire, Canvas Unite 2, Entice A105, and Engage A091), Lava (Iris X1), Xolo (Q600s), Celkon (Campus A35K), Karbonn (Titanium S99), Intex Aqua Curve Mini sell their KitKat devices for same price-range.

Despite these shortcomings, Samsung has an edge over the rivals for being a market leader with well established chain of third-party sellers and after-sales service centers across the country, whereas domestic brands and some MNC based Motorola, Xiaomi phones have limited availability, as they are retailed only via online stores.
