Days after the Delhi Police registered a case of murder, Tharoor said that he was completely taken aback by the turn of events and wants the probe to be done professionally without any predetermined outcome or political pressure. Sri Lanka elects Maithripala Sirisena as new president

Chennai, Jan 09 (ANI): Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena has been declared as the new President of Sri Lanka. The soft spoken 63-year-old has vowed to root out corruption and bring constitutional reforms. Sirisena, who will later in the day take oath as the seventh President of Sri Lanka, beat the incumbent Mahinda Rajapaksa after securing 51.28 percent of the votes cast. Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated Sri Lanka President-elect Maithiripala Sirisena on his poll victory. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that the election process is an internal matter of Sri Lanka and hoped that both Sri Lanka and India share good relations. France, Jan 08 (ANI): Helicopters were seen flying over the northeastern French town of Dammartin-en-Goele on Friday (January 9) as at least one hostage was seized during the police search for two brothers suspected of carrying out the attack on satirical publication Charlie Hebdo, according to police sources. There was heavy security in the town, and five helicopters were seen flying overhead on Friday morning. The French Interior Minister confirmed an operation was taking place there. Sakkarai Pongal Ingredients Raw rice - 1/2 cup Moong dal - 2 tbsp Jaggery - 1 cup Water Ghee - 1 tbsp A few Cashew nuts A few Raisins A few Cardamom pods Edible Camphor - tiny pinch Method: 1. Roast Moong dal and Raw rice for a few minutes in a deep cooker pot. 2. Then, add water and let it pressure cook for about 2-3 whistles. 3. To melt jaggery - take a small pot, add quarter cup water and add the jaggery. 4. Strain the melted jaggery into the boiled dal and rice. Let it cook on medium low flame. 5. Add freshly ground cardamom and edible camphor. Turn off the stove. It will thicken and reach the right consistency as it cools down. 6. In another pan roast cashew and raisins in some ghee and add it as a garnish to the sweet pongal.
