Stringent security measures in place at Indian coasts: Admiral RK Dhowan

Bengaluru, Jan 10 (ANI): Chief of Indian Navy, Admiral RK Dhowan on Saturday said that stringent security measures were being observed at all the coasts across the country. He said that a strict security cover was in place in these areas even before the Pakistani 'terror boat' was intercepted by Indian Coast Guard off the Porbandar coast in western India on the New Year's Eve. Admitting that dealing with the "non-sate actors" was a tough job, Dhowan said that thousands of merchant ships were in the Indian waters at any given time, guarding the country's 7516 km coastline. Agartala, Jan 10 (ANI): A two-day meet between Indian and Bangladeshi delegates began on Friday in Tripura, to discuss issues related to trans-border crimes, insurgent movements, human trafficking, narcotics and smuggling. Mumbai, Jan 10 (ANI): Bollywood Actor Sanjay Dutt left for Yerawada Jail in Pune on Saturday after Dutt's request for an extension in his furlough was rejected. Dutt said that he has been a law abiding citizen and that there is no favor for him because he is a celebrity. He urged the people to pray for his early release. Dutt had sought 14 days extension after exhausting the two weeks granted to him by jail officials. The decision on his extension plea came after the Mumbai police submitted its report to the Yerwada prison authorities. Dutt is serving 42 months of his five year sentence from May 2013 for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts.
