Dehradun, March 02 (ANI): BJP controversial leader Sadhvi Prachi came under criticism with her statement that Hindus should boycott movies by Khan actors in Bollywood as they promote 'Love Jihad'. The statement was reportedly made during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) programme in Dehradun on Sunday. Prachi also said that Hindus should refrain from putting up posters of Khan actors on their walls. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, who has been tested positive for swine flu, was on Sunday flown to Mumbai by an air-ambulance from a private hospital here. She was admitted in the hospital yesterday after she had complained of mild fever, cold and cough, following which test for swine flu was conducted on her. Visitors welcome finance minister's move to resurrect historical tombs

Hyderabad, March 02 (ANI): Visitors to historic Quli Qutb Shahi Tombs complex in Hyderabad welcomed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's proposal for providing financial help for restoration work of the tombs. Jaitley, in his budget speech on Saturday said that heritage sites were "still deficient and needed restoration, interpretation centres and plans for benefitting communities around them" and resources for the same would be provided to the Quli Qutb Shahi Tombs and eight other heritage sites in the country. A tourist, Nafisa, said that a little help from the government could go a long way in restoring the glory of these tombs. Jaitley's announcement gains significance as Qutb Tombs along with other popular heritage sites including Charminar and Golconda Fort are vying for UNESCO World Heritage Site tag. Guwahati, March 02 (ANI): The second edition of 'Assam-International Agri-Horticultural' show in Guwahati was an indication of continuous effort to promote modern farming techniques and organic farming in the state. With a participation of 425 stalls from 12 countries and 25 multinational companies, the fair provided an opportunity to state farmers to gain knowledge of global farm technology. The event, organised by the state agriculture department, was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh. The foreign participants displayed their farm technology; organic produce, genetically developed vegetables and medicinal products. Assam's Department of Agriculture also displayed organic products including vegetables, flowers and food grains. State run Indian Oil Corp raise the retail price of petrol by 5.5 percent and that of diesel by 6.6 percent from Sunday, as global prices of the two fuels have risen since the last revision. Family of four electrocuted in Maharashtra

Nanded, March 02 (ANI): Four members of a family died of an electric shock in a slum in Nanded district of Maharashtra. Among the dead were a man, a woman and two toddlers. The unfortunate incident occurred when the family was sleeping on an iron bed in the night when due to rain water current circulated in the entire house. A relative of the deceased family members, Zahed said the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) officials demand bribe whenever residents approach them for installing meters. Chennai/ New Delhi/ Kolkata, March 02 (ANI): Veteran administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya is set to be the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as he was the lone nominee for the elections scheduled for Monday. The Supreme Court had barred incumbent Narayanswami Srinivasan, who is also the president of International Cricket Council (ICC), from participating in BCCI affairs till charges of conflict of interest or commercial interest in cricket were clear against him. Dalmiya garnered the maximum support of the six East Zone units, whose turn it is to propose a new President, and his rival Sharad Pawar failed to get requisite backing.
