David Duchovny finally receives star on Walk of Fame

After searching the stars for alien life as his character FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder in The X-Files, actor David Duchovny got his own one on 25 January – on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor, who has appeared in numerous television shows outside of The X-Files including Twin Peaks, Californication and Aquarius, turned out alongside X-Files producer Chris Carter and comedian Garry Shandling. For its first show since designer Raf Simons announced his departure, Dior took its audience into a mirrored decor to unveil a Couture collection for modern women, always in a rush but with pride and style. The Spring-Summer 2016 collection was put together by the brands in-house team, Swiss designers Serge Ruffieux and Lucie Meier, and was unveiled in a structure specially designed for the show, with mirrors on ceiling and walls, installed in the garden of the Rodin museum. Banksys London Les Miserables mural attacks conditions in Calais camp

A mural by British graffiti artist Banksy highlighting the alleged use of tear gas on refugees from the jungle camp in Calais has appeared on a hoarding near the French embassy in London. The stencilled image mimics the logo of the musical Les Miserables, but in Banksys depiction the character Cosette is engulfed by clouds of gas. Four British women arrive in Australia after 235-day row across the Pacific Ocean

After rowing 9718 miles across the Pacific Ocean, four British women ended their journey in the Australian city of Cairns in far north Queensland on 25 January. Leaving San Francisco on the 21 April 2015, spending 235 days at sea, Emma Mitchell, Natalia Cohen, Laura Penhaul and Meg Dyos became the first female team and first four person boat to row the Pacific, the ABC reported. Residents in Washington, DC headed outdoors on 24 January to have some fun in the snow, after staying indoors for two days due to a massive snowstorm that pummelled the US East Coast. A video published on 24 January by the media centre of Islamic State (Isis), purported to show images and last statements of nine of the people who took part in the Paris attacks that killed 130 people on 13 November.
