Ethopia: Food aid to run out without $245m from donors

Emergency food aid for 10m Ethiopians hit by the worst drought in 50 years will run out in April unless donors provide $245m (£169m) by the end of February, the charity Save the Children said. Without additional funds, there could be a potentially catastrophic escalation in severe acute malnutrition among children, it said, which means they are likely to die without therapeutic feeding. Wild elephant goes on a rampage in Indian village

A wild elephant went on a rampage in a village in Indias eastern West Bengal state on 10 February, damaging around 100 structures, villagers said. The elephant strayed into Ektiasal village in Siliguri district early in the morning and woke up villagers with its roaring. Europes biggest football clubs have given their support to Uefa interim chief Gianni Infantinos Fifa presidential campaign, the European Club Association (ECA) said in Paris, France on 9 February. ECA vice-chairman Umberto Gandini announced the decision at a news conference during the general assembly of the organisation, which represents over 200 European clubs including major ones such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich. Aaron Hadlow wins King of the Air 2016 windsurfing title

Aaron Hadlow of Great Britain retained his King of the Air kitesurfing title in dramatic style in Cape Town, South Africa on 7 February. Huge waves and strong winds made for a superb spectacle in front of 13,000 spectators on the Big Bay beach, with Hadlows precision impressing the judges to put him ahead of Jesse Richman of the United States and Kevin Langeree of the Netherlands. Sylvester Stallone, thrilled to be back as an Oscar contender for the first time in 40 years, said on 8 February he had thought twice about taking part in the Oscar ceremony, because of the uproar over the scarcity of black talent in the contest. Lock of John Lennons hair set for auction

A special Beatles fan could own literally a piece of John Lennon, as a US auction house prepares to sell, what they have authenticated as, a lock of the singers hair. Heritage Auctions, who will sell the clump of hair on 20 February, in Dallas, Texas, said it comes from a hairdresser who trimmed Lennons hair in 1966 Germany, before he filmed the movie, How I Won the War.
