CCTV shows fatal gunfight between US resident and intruders

An armed intruder was killed after a woman shot at three men who had broken into a home on 22 September in Georgia, USA.CCTV footage shows her confronting them. Midnight curfew in Charlotte after three nights of rioting

The city of Charlotte, North Carolina, imposed a midnight curfew on 22 September 2016 after three nights of riots triggered by the police shooting of a black man. Keith Scott was shot dead by a black officer as police searched for a different man with an outstanding warrant. Activists have reported the use of white phosphorus being used on rebel-held areas on Aleppo City, Syria, on 22 September. It has not been independently verified that white phosphorus was used but the video shows the sky being lit up and residents reported an attack with fires after the bombing, suggesting that some incendiary may have been used. People have rallied against the governments new Fertility Day campaign which encourages people to have children while they can. The campaign has been called both racist and sexist and people are saying that the government should focus on economic struggles and the children that people already have. Retired colonel Tim Collins claims no decency in Afghan war crime investigation

Former Colonel Tim Collins said there is no decency in the independent policing unit set up to investigate allegations of war crimes against British soldiers in Afghanistan. Col. Collins said the investigation, which the Ministry of Defence said had so far received almost 600 complaints relating to 150 indivduals, was a waste of time and money. He also said soldiers need to be afforded the protections of civilian workers - such as a trade union - if they are going to be subject to civilian-level scrutiny whilst in a theatre of war. Torrential rain causes mudslides and flooding chaos in China

Three hundred people in China had to be evacuated from their homes after torrential rain caused widespread flooding and a number of roads were forced to close due to mudslides. The bad weather, which began on Tuesday all over Chinas south-west Yunnan Province and continued until yesterday, saw floodwater reach a height of 70cm on some local roads, authorities say.
