Charlotte police releases video footage of Keith Lamont Scott shooting

Charlotte police released two videos of the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old black man, whose death on 20 September led to riots and protests in North Carolina. The footage was recorded by a police body camera and a vehicle dashcam.The Charlotte police department had previously refused to release the footage until the investigation into the incident was complete. Scott’s death sparked riots in the North Carolina town. The protests against police violence are still ongoing. Sep 25, 2016

Bus driver causes accident after being attacked by umbrella-wielding passanger

Eleven people were injured in a bus accident in central Istanbul after the driver lost control of the bus when a passenger hit him with an umbrella after an argument.The bus driver was reportedly arguing with the man about closing the doors of the bus. The mother of murdered British teenager Scarlett Keeling accused the Indian criminal authorities of corruption after a judge acquitted two men with the rape and death of the 15-year-old. Fiona McKeown said she was shocked and devastated by the judges decision to acquit Placido Carvalho and Samson DSouza, who were charged with culpable homicide and grievous sexual assault. McKeown has been fighting for the truth of how her daughter died since her body was found bruised and partially naked on a beach in Goa more than eight years ago. Sep 23, 2016

Baby panda bears filmed sunbathing and learning to climb

Panda cubs in Chinas Chengdu research reserve have been filmed enjoying sunbathing and learning to walk, climb and sit up. The footage, filmed over a three week period from the start of September, is from a unique video project called iPanda.com which films the rare bears on multiple cameras 24 hours a day. The bears are seen attempting to climb and and sit without support from the researchers on the reserve. The base opened in 1987 with six giant pandas from the wild. A successful breeding campaign means it is now home to more than 150 bears. Sep 23, 2016

Ken Nwadike from the Free Hugs Project faced verbal abuse while extending the kind gesture to police on the second day of protests in Charlotte, North Carolina, following the shooting of Keith Scott on 20 September. Dramatic video shows baby being rescued from under rubble in Aleppo

Rescuers dig with their bare hands to pull a baby from the wreckage of a bombed building in Aleppo, Syria. The baby appeared to be moving but its condition is not known. The bombing came on 23 September, where more than 30 airstrikes hit 15 neighbourhoods in east Aleppo, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Sep 23, 2016

Shocking footage shows teenage girl arrested and pepper-sprayed by US police

US police in Hagerstown, Maryland, have released bodycam footage showing the brutal arrest of a 15-year-old girl. Police were called after the girls bike collided with a car. She refused medical treatment as she insisted she did not need it, and attempted to cycle away, at which point she was forced off her bike and detained for non-cooperation. She was then pepper sprayed for refusing to get into the police car. Hagerstown Police Chief Victor Bruno said the force decided to release the footage to prove that the girl was not slammed against the wall, as her lawyer had alleged. He said she was charged assault, disorderly conduct, a traffic violation and marijuana possession. Sep 23, 2016
