New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): India's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that it is keen to engage with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to enhance strategic partnership to work together not only on bilateral but also on regional and international issues. Kerry is scheduled to visit India on Wednesday as Washington tries to revitalize ties it sees as a counterbalance to China's rising power. Earlier on Tuesday, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar had said that the field trial of 15 genetically modified (GM) crops approved recently by the Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) is just a recommendation and no decision has been taken yet on the contentious issue. Apparently, the Modi government is coming under pressure from the RSS, as two outfits linked to the Sangh have now demanded that the Centre put a ban on field trials of the GM crops.
