SC asks reply from Government on transparency in CVC appointment

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court has asked a reply from the Central Government regarding transparency in appointment of CVCs by the government. Lawyer Prashant Bhushan said that the Court sought an answer as to why appointments were being made by a limited number of people and opportunity not reaching the general population as a whole. He added that the next hearing will be held on October 14 and till then no appointments will be made. Sep 18, 2014

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Thursday said that the Supreme Court had asked him to reveal the whistleblower's name in case against CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha, to which he refused to do so. Bhushan said that in a meeting of Centre of Public Interest Litigation, it was decided that the whistleblower's name shall not be revealed citing danger to his life as also seen in previous cases. New Delhi, Sept 18 (ANI): Senior Bihar BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday remained firm on his remark on BJP leader Yogi Adityanath. Sushil Modi had reiterated the party line on "love jihad" but nuanced it - distancing the state unit from the Yogi Adityanath-style of rhetoric and promising to give "a good number" of tickets to Muslims in next year's Assembly elections. He said that if Yogi Adityanath spoke in Bihar like he did in UP, they would have contradicted him. Talking to mediapersons in Delhi, he said that if central leadership says anything that is the voice of the party but if any particular leader says anything that is not the voice of the party. New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Tibetan activists, on Thursday (September 18), protested against Chinese President Xi Jinping's India visit in New Delhi and accused him of killings in Tibet. Tibetan exiles shouted anti-China slogans, carrying banners demanding 'Free Tibet'. A protester scaled a light pole near Dhaula Kuan area of the Indian capital and waved banner against the Chinese President. Protesters said they are not against Jinping, but protesting for their own people. The agitated protesters protesting outside Hyderabad House, where delegation level talks between PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are underway, were later detained by the police.
