After filing his nomination papers at the election commission office, Hooda said that Haryana will elect his party again to power to carry forward the development done in last 9 1/2 years. BJP to announce list of 190 candidates for Maharashtra polls on Friday after breaking apart from Shi

New Delhi, Sep 26 (ANI): BJP is to announce its first list of 190 candidates on Friday for the Maharashtra elections to be held on October 15. Party leader Shyam Jaju confirmed the same and said that party is likely to contest in about 250 of the total 288 Assembly segments and will leave the rest number of seats for its smaller allies. Jaju said that party tried to keep the alliance intact but could not and ultimately have to break apart. Assam, Sep 26 (ANI): The death toll due to floods in Assam has now gone up to 36 with the recovery of four more bodies on Thursday. The floods in Assam have affected close to 10 lakh people in 13 districts and rendered a majority of people homeless. Two people died in Krishnai and Kukurkata areas of Goalpara district, which has been the worst hit by the floods, while one person was found dead in Tinsukia district and Guwahati. Heavy rains in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh earlier this week led to the flood like situation. The government has set up 162 relief camps and shelters where 1.5 lakh people have taken shelter. The state government had yesterday announced a payment of Rs 3.5 lakhs to the kin of those who died in the flood. Sep 26, 2014

Reactions come in as Sartaj Aziz says India should initiate Indo-Pak dialogue

New Delhi, Sep 26 (ANI): Reactions came in as Pakistan National Security and Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz said that India should initiate dialogue with Pakistan after talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours were called-off last month. India had cancelled foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan, which was scheduled to take place in Islamabad last month, as Pakistan envoy met Kashmiri separatists ahead of the meeting, giving a jolt to renewed diplomatic efforts. Aziz said that Pakistan would resume talks if India takes the initiative. BJP's Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that it should be Pakistan who should take the first initiative. Congress leader Manish Tewari blamed NDA government's bad policy towards Pakistan the reason behind such statements. The event saw live performances by singers Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan, Roop Kumar Rathod, Rajeshwari Pathak and Anwarbhai, the king of Rajasthani folk music. Based on the book Raja Ravi Varma by Marathi author Ranjit Desai, the film chronicles the life of India's famous painter Raja Ravi Varma. The film is being released after six long years because of its controversial subject. The movie also features Nandana Sen, Vipin Sharma and Paresh Rawal. One dead 8 injured in bomb attack targeting senior Pak police official in Karachi

Karachi, Sept 26 (ANI): At least one person was killed and eight others, including two women and police personnel, were injured when a bomb targeting a senior anti-terror police officer went off in Karachi late on Thursday. According to initial reports, the attack targeted senior anti-terror police officer, Senior Superintendent of Police, Farooq Awan, who was travelling in his bomb proof vehicle when it was attacked. The blast was so huge it was heard in various areas of the city. Police officials said that over 50kg of explosives were used in the blast. Awan and several others had been shifted to a private hospital in the area. Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo told reporters that Awan had sustained minor injuries. However, an unidentified man was taken to hospital in critical condition. A hospital spokesperson later said the civilian had died in the hospital. Sep 26, 2014
