Mangalyaan sends first pictures of Mars

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Indian Mars orbiter spacecraft 'Mangalyaan' which began its rotation around Mars after its successful insertion into the orbit on Wednesday, has now sent the first pictures of the red planet. The Mars Orbiter Mission affectionately called "MOM" created history on Wednesday by making India the first country ever to have reached Mars' orbit successfully in its very first attempt. On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet also passed a unanimous resolution lauding the efforts of scientists and engineers of the Indian Space Research organisation (ISRO) for the success of Mars Orbiter Mission 'Mangalyaan'. The Mars Orbiter Mission was India's first inter-planetary mission launched on November 5, 2013 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Sep 25, 2014

Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands are homeless. Authorities say the cost of damage in Jammu and Kashmir may run into billions of dollars. Villagers of Rajouri district said they haven't still got any tents or alternate arrangements after their houses collapsed in the devastation.
