PM Modi meets Mahinda Rajapaksa, Sheikh Hasina and Sushil Koirala in New York

New York, Sep 27 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala after addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York. In his meeting with Mahinda Rajapaksa, Modi held talks during which key issues, including bilateral and regional, was discussed. This was the second meeting between the two leaders after Modi was sworn-in as the Prime Minister. Modi also met Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala for the third time after his swearing-in ceremony and international visit to Nepal. He held bilateral talks with Koirala. Modi also met Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the first time after becoming the Prime Minister, as Hasina was unable to attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony. Sep 28, 2014

Reactions flow over PM Modi's UN General Assembly address

New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): Reactions flowed on Saturday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his first addressing speech in the United Nations General Assembly. Security Expert Uday Bhaskar said that Prime Minister gave a befitting and comprehensive reply to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's comment on Kashmir issue. Jammu and Kashmir's former DGP MM Khajuria said that Modi's address was a comprehensively thoughtful speech in the benefit of entire world. Meanwhile, former India diplomat NN Jha said that after Nawaz Sharif's comment on Kashmir issue it was a general opinion that India should ignore the matter but added that Modi addressed the issue in a very smart way. Jayalalithaa sentenced to four years jail, politicos react

New Delhi, Sept 27 (ANI): Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa on Saturday was sentenced to four years prison and slapped with a fine of Rs100 crore after being convicted by a City Special Court in the 18-year old disproportionate assets case under the Prevention for Corruption Act. Jayalalithaa has also been debarred from contesting any elections for the next ten years. Leaders from various political parties gave mixed reactions on the same. Jayalalithaa has also lost the MLA's post and will have to step down as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
