Manipuri youth makes it to the Guinness Book of World Record

Imphal, Oct 02 (ANI): Twenty-six-year old weightlifter Maibam Itomba Meitei is on cloud nine these days. He recently entered the Guinness Book of World Records after completing the most number of consecutive Pinky pull ups. A resident of Naoremthong Samusang in Imphal West District, Itomba made his first attempt at achieving the record in 2012. During his second attempt in March this year at the SAI NERC complex, he managed to do 16 pull ups in 30 seconds using two fingers, breaking the previous world record of 16 pull ups in a minute by an American weight lifter. He received official confirmation in July. Itomba currently runs an iron and steel furniture work shop to earn a livelihood. The young weightlifter has received several state and national awards. He had trained intensively for the world record and hopes to continue achieving more such feats. Oct 2, 2014

During his US trip, which started from New York, Modi drew an especially loud cheer when he made a long-awaited announcement that those holding cards showing they were of Indian origin would be granted lifetime visas to India. He also said that India would allow visas on arrival for US citizens, while addressing a crowd of 18,000 people at New York's Madison Square Garden. Rajasthan hosts maximum number of tourists from France and after Modi’s announcement, it is being assumed that state could witness very high footfall of US citizens and PIO card holders as well.
