Bangalore, Oct 26 (ANI): Residents of Bangalore protested against the state government on Sunday for its decision to demolish Balabrooie guest house, a 200-year-old historic building. The guest house is an over 150-year-old building located on Palace Road, a place known for housing various heritage buildings. The state government wants to demolish the guest house and also cut down the trees nearby to make way for a Legislators Club. The book fair, being held at Rabindra Sadan, was inaugurated by West Bengal's Education Minister Partho Chatterjee. Chatterjee said that an initiative was underway as a part of which poets from West Bengal and Bangladesh will collaborate to write a book. A visitor to the book fair, Shreyoshi Bandhopadhay, said such initiatives help bridge the gaps created by borders. Latehar, Oct 26 (ANI): A goods train derailed in Jharkhand's Latehar district on Sunday after it collided with another train at the Barka Kana railway station. The last four compartments of the goods train were squashed due to the collision. This resulted in a lot of inconvenience for the commuters as several trains taking that route had to be delayed. New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Members of Aam Aadmi Sena protested outside the residence of Arun Jaitley on Sunday urging him to disclose the names of foreign bank account holders. Aam Aadmi Sena leader Shamsher Singh said that the money belongs the people and hence the government must reveal the name of the account holders. The BJP had set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unearth "black money", after its first cabinet meeting. However, the government later claimed that not all information on the matter should be disclosed under double taxation avoidance agreement or DTAT. Visakhapatnam, Oct 26 (ANI): The fishermen community in port city of Visakhapatnam seems to be worst affected by cyclone Hudhud as they have not been able to return to work after their fishing boats and other equipments were either lost or damaged. Cyclone Hudhud slammed into the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on October 12, tearing down tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes, and flattening rice, banana and sugarcane plantations. Meanwhile, a fisherman, Danayya, said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is himself supervising the rehabilitation work. However, another fisherman, Aslam Khan, said the help offered by the government is not enough. On an average, 350 tonnes of fish is provided by the Visakhapatnam fishing harbour per day, of which nearly half is sold in Visakhapatnam itself. The remaining stock is exported to Tamil Nadu and Kerala where the fish varieties of Visakhapatnam are very popular. Oct 26, 2014

102 Air India pilots found flying with lapsed licenses

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Air India has recently discovered that as many as 102 pilots of its wide body Boeing fleet have been flying without clearing a mandatory test that helps keep their licences valid and without which the same lapse. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had ordered Jet to remove its chief of training due to this serious lapse. Admitting the lapse of its training department, Air India wrote to DGCA saying that the route check of the 102 pilots was not done as per the required schedule that rendered their licences unfit for flying. Ludhiana, Oct 26 (ANI): A cancer awareness walkathon was organised in Ludhiana on Sunday to encourage people to undertake timely medical check-up to ascertain early detection of the disease. The walkathon, in its second year, is an initiative of a non-governmental organisation, Can Fight Cancer (CFC). Over 1000 people walked nearly 2.5 kilometres to show solidarity with cancer patients, cancer survivors, caregivers and medical professionals, who were also present among the crowd to make the event a success. Conducted by a charitable foundation, the marathon of around 8.4 kilometers was flagged off from National Stadium and more than 15,000 people aged 16 and above participated in the run, wearing white shirts and blue caps, symbolizing the message of peace.
