Congress party goes on hunger strike over Vyapam scam in Bhopal

Bhopal, Nov 01 (ANI): The Congress party went on a hunger strike on Saturday (November 01) against the Madhya Pradesh government for not providing proper details of the investigation into the employment scam that rocks the state. The Vyapam Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam (Employment scam) relates to admissions in medical and engineering colleges during the period 2008 to 2010 in which many government employees are under the scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Members of the Congress party wanted to hold the demonstration outside state Chief, Shivraj Singh Chouhan's official residence but were not given permission. Congress party leader, Satyadev Katare, said that they were on a hunger strike because they were not being provided the information they were demanding. Nov 1, 2014

At least six dead and seven missing after boat capsizes in Bihar

Jamui, Nov 1 (ANI): At least six people died and seven are missing after a boat capsized in Bihar on Saturday (November 01). The incident took place in Jamui district of the state, when a country boat carrying 16 people capsized in deep waters of Garhi dam. Six dead bodies have been recovered which includes three children, one woman and a youth. A villager Amit Kumar, living near the dam said few people on the boat tried to swim through, with the help of logs being ferried.
