Murli Manohar Joshi to 'adopt a village' in Kanpur

Kanpur, Nov 09 (ANI): BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Sunday decided to adopt a village as a part of 'adopt-a-village' programme 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' (SAGY). Joshi will be adopting the Dehli-Sujanpur village in Kanpur as a part of this scheme. The village was visited by various members of the Kanpur unit of BJP including its chief Surendra Maithani and BJP legislator Raghunandan Singh Bhadauria who assessed the state of the village. Maithani said that it was shocking to see that a village located near a well developed city of Kanpur was so under-developed. Resident of Dehli-Sujanpur village, Suresh Kumar said that lack of toilets in the village was a matter of utmost concern. Ganderbal, Nov 09 (ANI): The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Sunday (November 09) expedited reconstruction of roads that were damaged after the worst flood in decades devastated Jammu and Kashmir. The BRO Ganderbal district, have initiated the construction of road surface with macadam and plan to complete it before the snowfall as harsh weather conditions damage the roads and cause difficulties for commuters. The site engineer of BRO, Chander Shekhar said that the road has a lot of pot holes, which can be dangerous for drivers and can cause accidents. Authorities said that the traffic flow on the road is increasing day by day as every year thousands of tourists visit the district and also pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra use this road to reach their destination. New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday finally expanded his Council of Ministers and reshuffled his Cabinet for the first time after taking over as the Prime Minister of India in May. The new ministers took the oath of office at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of the NDA ministers and the prime minister himself. President Pranab Mukherjee administered oath to the ministers as their names were being announced at the grand function. Capital gears up to host National Children's Film Festival

Mumbai, Nov 9 (ANI): The Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) announced to launch the National Children's Film Festival (NCFF) in a bid to expose youngsters to global cinema. CFSI is an autonomous body under India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, founded in 1955, which has been working towards promoting children's films across the globe. The three-day festival will kick start on November 14 at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, on the occasion of Children's Day celebrated to commemorate the birthday of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Films made in India or made by Indian filmmakers will be showcased in the festival. Kumar also said that another aim of this festival was to celebrate childhood through films. The theme for the inaugural edition of NCFF will be ‘Swachhta' (Cleanliness), falling in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) launched nationwide by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. The festival will also see various other workshops to be held for children including those for film making, dance and music. New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Almost 20 new faces are expected to take oath of office to be a part of the reshuffled Union Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manohar Parrikar, who tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister of Goa on Saturday, is widely expected to bag the post of the next Defence Minister. The BJP Parliamentary Board held a meeting in New Delhi on Saturday to finalize the list of leaders joining the Union Cabinet. Besides Parrikar, party MPs Anurag Thakur, Col. Sonaram Chaudhary and Hansraj Ahir are among those likely to be included in the Cabinet. BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are also expected to be allotted Cabinet berths. Former union minister Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant too is in the race for the Cabinet berth, with reports suggesting that the first-time Hazaribagh MP is being considered as a Minister of State (MoS) for Defence or Finance.
