SC directs BCCI to postpone elections till Jan 31

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Supreme Court on Wednesday directed BCCI to postpone its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections of the office-bearers till 31st January, 2015 after BCCI sidelined chief N Srinivasan appealed that if he is re-elected he will keep away from all matters and running of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Politicos on government removing section 309 from IPC

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): The Home Ministry on Wednesday informed Parliament that the government has decided to delete section 309 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises attempt to suicide. The Centre also said that 18 states and four union territories have supported deleting Sec 309. The move was recommended by the Law Commission along with amendment of certain other sections of the CrPC and IPC in consultation with all stake holders. Many politicos backed the decision. New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Supporters and cricket authorities thronged New Delhi airport on Wednesday when the Indian visually impaired cricketers returned home after winning the fourth ODI Blind Cricket World Cup. India defeated defending champions Pakistan to win the 4th Cricket World Cup for the Blind by 5 wickets on Sunday (December 07) in Cape Town. In reply to Pakistan's 389, India scored 392 with two balls to spare. Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot and Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar were among others who received the team and congratulated it for the victory. Captain Shekar Naik was all praise for the efforts put in by the team to win the maiden title. Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal promised all help to the team, including better infrastructure. Titled '1971 Genocide and Tortures', the exhibition has been organised by Bangladesh National Museum and Genocide and Torture Archive and Museum Trust as the nation observes December as the month of Liberation. The eight-day exhibition aims to illustrate the torture the people of the country were subjected to. It also offers a glimpse into the past to the young generation and helps them learn about the freedom struggle of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, a visitor Fatema Mamun, said the photos at the exhibition reminded her of the days when she lived in constant fear. On display at the exhibition were numerous paintings, photographs, sketches and replicas of artworks by eminent artists of the country to portray the heinous and inhuman torture committed by the Pakistani occupation army and the level of horror faced by the people. The Auto sector is up 68.56 points at 18,914.17 while the banking sector is up 211.09 points at 21,158.24 and the reality sector is up 4.29 points at 1,664.28.
