BJP slams Omar Abdullah's comment on Keran infiltration

New Delhi, Oct 09 (ANI): Even as Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the situation in Keran is not like a second Kargil as hyped by the media and infiltration attempts from Pakistan keeps going on, especially before the onset of winter, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Pakistan has become an international headquarters for terrorism and it is time to strengthen our command on terrorism.

Electricity restored at hospitals, railway stations and airport: Digvijay Singh on Andhra crisis

New Delhi, Oct 9 (ANI): As around twenty trains were cancelled and the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh evoked violent protests, forcing the authorities to clamp a curfew in the region, Congress general Secretary Digvijay Singh said that electricity has been restored for emergency services like hospital, railway station, airport. He also said that talks are under ways with the NGO's who are on strike.

Azad Market Building collapse: 1 dead, four feared trapped

New Delhi, Oct 09 (ANI): A three- storey building collapsed in the Azad Market area in the national capital on Wednesday morning killing a person and injuring others. Four people are feared to be trapped under the rubble. Five fire tenders have rushed to the spot and are engaged in the rescue efforts. According to the witnesses, the building fell like a pack of cards and it sounded as if the area was struck by an earthquake. More details are awaited.

International terrorism expert calls for banning Jamaat-e-Islami

Dhaka, Oct 9 (ANI): International terrorism expert and an academician in Singapore, Rohan Gunaratna, called for the banning of Bangladesh's top Islamic party, Jamaat-e-Islami, for spreading prejudice, suspicion and hatred resulting in widespread anger and acts of violence in the country. Gunaratna said that there should be movement in South Asia against the exploitation of religion. Gunaratna said that extremist and militant groups in Bangladesh have emerged from Jamaat-e-Islami ideology. He also said that there should be greater mobilization on the part of the non-governmental institutions to fight the wave of extremism.

Eleven Maoists surrender in Odisha

Malkangiri, Oct 9 (ANI): Eleven Maoists, including a woman cadre, surrendered after a brief encounter with the police in Malkangiri district of Odisha. A surrendered Maoist said that they had joined the ultras under a misconception and left after being abused by them. Superintendent of Police, Pramod Kumar Bag said eleven members had surrendered. Over 50 Maoists have surrendered in the area in last four months as they had enough of ill treatment at the hands of their superiors. The rebels, also known as Naxals, have fought for decades in a wide swathe of central and Eastern India, including many resource-rich regions where tensions run high between poor farmers and industrial developers.
