Sleeping for six to eight hours at night cuts heart disease risk

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): A new research by an Indian origin scientist has claimed that sleeping for six to eight hours a night could help cut the risk of heart problems and stroke. Author Dr Saurabh Aggarwal, of Chicago Medical School has found that people who sleep less than six hours a night were twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke, compared to those who sleep between six and eight hours. People who take less sleep also had a two-thirds higher risk of congestive heart failure. However, the research found that sleeping for more than eight hours doubles the risk of angina and increases likelihood of coronary artery disease by 19 percent.

SEBI to formulate rules for disclosures to curb errant trading: UK Sinha

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The country's capital markets regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is all set to formulate a new set of rules vis-a-vis disclosures by listed companies to curb errant trading of scripts such as insider trading and over or under rated deals. SEBI Chairman UK Sinha stated this in New Delhi on Thursday. He was speaking to the mediapersons on the sidelines of an event hosted by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. India, at present does not have any formal rules meant for dealing with the annulment of trades. Instead, stock exchanges across the country have devised their own guidelines. Recently, the SEBI took several measures to protect the interest of the investors.

College Principal hacked to death by engineering students

Tuticorin, Oct 10 (ANI): In a shocking incident, students of Infant Jesus Engineering College in Tuticorin city of Tamil Nadu hacked their Principal to death due to disciplinary action on them. The students were ordered to vacate the hostel on grounds of indiscipline. The three students were singled out by the Principal and repeatedly faced suspension and other disciplinary measures. According to the management, these students were indulged in ragging the juniors in the hostel. Police said the Principal, Dr LRD Suresh (55), of the college died on the way to hospital, following which the three students were arrested.

Muzaffarnagar riots: Allahabad HC notice to Azam Khan

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court has issued a notice to senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan for allegedly pressing for the release of seven members from the Muslim community named in the murder of two Jats, which triggered the communal backlash in Mazaffarnagar last month claiming at least 48 lives. The court asked Azam Khan to file his counter affidavit within ten days from the receipt of notice. According to reports, the Allahabad High Court also stayed the suspension of an SHO of a police station in Muzaffarnagar where these seven accused were held by the police. The court noted that the allegations leveled against Khan were "serious" and "the chain of incidents show that the matter requires consideration to see the circumstances and to find out whether the same was "in accordance with law" and not "vitiated".
