The BAI cited a ruckus during the recent Indian Badminton league match as the reason for this proposed ban. Recently during a match in the Indian Badminton League (IBL) on August 25, Gutta had delayed the match which was being witnessed live across the world. However, President of BAI, Akhilesh Das Gupta said that if Gutta gave an unconditional apology the matter could be reconsidered, but at the moment the ban had only been recommended and not enforced.
