New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has informed that he has ordered a probe in the Mumbai-Dehradun Express fire case and promised to take action after the report. Kharge also announced Rs.5 lakh ex gratia to the kin of passengers killed in the accident. Nine people were charred to death when a fire broke out in three coaches of the train near Dahanu road in neighbouring Thane district in the wee hours on Wednesday. Jan 8, 2014

Train fire kills nine in Mumbai-Dehradun Express train

Thane/ New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): Chairman of India's railway board Arunendra Kumar confirmed that nine people have died and one injured in a fire that broke out on the Bandra-Dehradun Express in Thane district of Maharashtra. Fire broke out in three coaches of the train early on Wednesday killing at least 9 people and injuring others. Reportedly, the fire broke out in three sleeper coaches of the train.
