New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): As the Aam Aadmi Party is heading towards a landslide win in the national capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Arvind Kejriwal on the occasion."Spoke to @ArvindKejriwal and congratulated him on the win. Assured him Centre's complete support in the development of Delhi", tweeted Modi. According to latest trend, AAP is ahead in 62 seats, while the BJP had gone down to 7. The Congress seems to be wiped out with zero seats. Meanwhile, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has also congratulated Kejriwal on his success saying it is a big defeat for the arrogant.

India expects more than 600 global armament majors at defence exhibition

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): India is expecting participation of more than 600 global armament majors at the five-day defence exhibition, showing their state-of-art-technology, said an official. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Aero-India 2015, one of the largest premium air shows in Asia, in Bengaluru city on February 18 with aim to attract investment in the country. Modi's 'Make in India' initiative is the major theme for the exhibition. The initiative has been launched to boost industrial production by inviting foreign as well as domestic investment and cutting red tape. The biennial Aero-India, which began in 1996, has become a major platform for armament giants to initiate defence deals.

Delhi polls results: Early leads show big win for AAP, party workers celebrate

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): With counting on for the Delhi Assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is presently leading in 53 seats as per the early trends followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that is ahead in 12 seats. The Congress is leading in just three seats. With this, celebrations have already begun at the party office in New Delhi. AAP leader and birthday boy Kumar Vishwas had double reasons to celebrate. AAP, BJP remains hopeful of victory, Congress upset with performance even as counting is underway

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Even as counting is underway for the Delhi assembly polls, political parties remained hopeful of victory in the national capital, however, Congress remained quiet on the process. AAP leader Kumar Vishwas and Atishi Marlena said that the party is confident of its win and that the people of Delhi will give mandate in favour of the party. BJP leaders said that the party would rather wait for the results than celebrating on just the trends. Meanwhile, Congress leader PC Chacko said that the party is keeping close watch on the results and that they will assess their mistakes and will work on the same from the beginning.

Tripura observes shutdown to protest twin murder

Unakoti, Feb 10 (ANI): People observed complete shutdown to protest twin murder in Tripura. Shops and institutions remain closed while roads bore deserted look in Unakoti district to seek justice for two local youths, who were found lying on a road. The bodies with head injuries were identified as Anjan Deb and Pallab Debnath. Police suspect that both were murdered somewhere else and left over there. Superintendent of Police L Darlong said investigation was underway to nab the culprits. Both Communist party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and opposition Congress party have supported the strike in the state.

President Mukherjee hosts banquet for Singaporean counterpart in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee hosted banquet for Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife Mary Tan at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and various other dignitaries were present at the occasion. Tony Tan arrived in the national capital on Sunday on a four-day visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Earlier in the day, the Singapore President was accorded with a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he met Mukherjee and Modi. Tony Tan will also inaugurate an exhibition at the national museum in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Budding Naga fashion designers showcase their talent at an event in Dimapur

Dimapur, Feb 10 (ANI): Celebrating ten years of its existence, the Dimapur-based Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA) pledges to train and nurture the Northeast youth in fashion technology. Recently, the "Decade plus 1" founders day of the academy was celebrated at NIAPA campus in Dimapur. Actress and Member of Parliament, Moon Moon Sen inaugurated the event titled Decade plus1'. The budding designers from the Institute showcased their work as the kids walked the ramp in designer outfits. The academy regularly organizes many fashion shows, events, and seminars in India and abroad to showcase the skills of their students to a wider audience. In 2014, the students had presented a fashion show by designer Ikali Sukhalu at the Couture Fashion week in New York.

Methodology change sees Indian economy grow faster than China's

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): India forecasted that annual economic growth would accelerate to 7.4 percent in the year ending in March after its statisticians changed the way they measure Asia's third-largest economy and showed it clocked faster growth than China in the December quarter. The statistical recovery is in large measure due to changes both in the way authorities calculate gross domestic product (GDP) and the base year. The new estimate is sharply higher than the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) growth projection of around 5.5 percent for the year under the old method. It marks a dramatic turnaround for an economy that a fortnight ago was assumed to be struggling to gain momentum under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reform-minded government. India now measures GDP by market prices instead of factor costs, to take into account gross value addition in goods and services as well as indirect taxes. The base year has been shifted to 2011/12 from 2004/05 earlier.

Delhi all set with enthusiasm as counting begins for Assembly polls

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): As the counting begins for Delhi assembly polls, political parties are seen all geared up anticipating their win. The stage is set for the formation of a government in the national capital as the election officials are all set on their duties at respective centres amid claims by the AAP and the BJP of getting a clear majority. The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of ballots, which will take place in 14 Centres across the city under tight security. A three-tier security will be in place at all the 14 counting centres. Entire process of counting will be video graphed. The results are to be announced by 1:00 PM. Other than security arrangements in Delhi, the city is witnessing great enthusiasm by the people and political parties. Preparations are on at AAP and BJP office for watching the developing results as it comes. However, Congress remained quiet on the whole process and the party office wore a deserted look.
