New images have emerged from the doomed flight carrying the Brazilian soccer side Chapecoense before it took off and crashed, killing 71 of the 77 people on board. Before the crash occurred the captain had reportedly radioed to say that he was running out of fuel in an emergency. Before takeoff the team and crew on the Bolivian charter plane were in good spirits. Astronomers have obtained observations of the smallest asteroid ever characterised in detail – at 2m in diameter. Interestingly, the asteroid, named 2015 TC25, is also one of the brightest near-Earth asteroids ever discovered. Players who didnt travel with Brazils Chapecoense team on their doomed flight to Colombia attended a memorial service last night at the club stadium in Chapeco, Brazil. The memorial took place on the day fans were due to celebrate the sides biggest match in its history. Chapecoense plane crash: Pilot’s last words reveal plane ran out of fuel during emergency landing attempt

Cockpit audio from the doomed LAMIA flight that crashed in Colombia on 28 November has revealed that the pilot knew he was running out of fuel. He had contacted the control tower at José María Córdova International Airport to request an emergency landing. The plane crashed into a mountain near the city of Medellin, killing nearly all on-board. Among the victims were members of Brazilian football team Chapecoense, as well as crew and journalists. Vodafone Foundation helps save mothers’ and children’s lives in one of the world’s worst HIV hotspots

Maboe, 43, and her son Motsamai, 6, are HIV positive. They now receive regular treatment close to home through the Vodafone Foundations mobile treatment programme in Lesotho. The programme combines Vodafone’s M-Pesa mobile money service with travelling clinics and a smartphone app which enables the tracking of patients in remote areas. The Vodafone Foundations travelling clinics use a fleet of 4 x 4 vehicles to provide on-site HIV testing in remote areas as part of a wider effort to provide basic primary healthcare. Dec 1, 2016
