CCTV footage shows Sinai police bomb attacker killed in hail of bullets

Footage obtained by Egypts interior ministry shows the killing of a man reportedly involved in the Sinia bomb attack on 9 January in Arish, Egypt. At least seven policemen and one civilian were killed in the attack. A bomb planted in a street cleaning vehicle exploded near a security checkpoint, then after the bomb exploded, around 20 attackers fired guns and rocket-propelled grenades. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but an Islamist insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula has gained pace since the military toppled President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013. Israels ambassador to the UK, Mark Regev, has issued an apology after a senior embassy official was caught on camera reportedly saying that he wanted to take down pro-Palestinian ministers.According to reports, footage from an undercover sting operation showed senior political officer of the Israeli embassy, Shai Masot, talking to Maria Strizzolo, former chief of staff to Conservative MP Robert Halfons – sometime in October 2016. At least four people were killed and 15 injured when a truck drove into pedestrians in Jerusalem. The truck, driven by a Palestinian, struck people as they were walking on the popular Armon Hanatziv promenade. The four dead are said to be soldiers in their 20s. A giant iceberg could break away from an ice shelf in Antarctica. An area more than three times the size of London is now only connected to the Larsen C ice shelf by 12 miles of ice. The soon-to-be iceberg makes up 10% of the ice shelf. When the 1,900 square mile area breaks away, Larsen C will be at its most retreated position ever.
