Indians soak in devotion at birth place of Lord Krishna

Mathura, Aug 18 (ANI): Thousands of devotees soaked in devotion thronged birthplace of Lord Krishna in Uttar Pradesh on Monday to celebrate his birth anniversary. Chanting hymns and carrying religious offerings, people flocked temples dedicated to the Hindu god in Mathura to mark the festival of Janamashtmi with pageantry. The priests performed rituals in the temples to mark 5240th birthday of Lord Krishna. A devotee, Nishi Khurana, said she was elated to visit Mathura to be a part of the celebration. Aug 18, 2014

Pakistan provokes ceasefire violation yet again

Arnia, Aug 18 (ANI): The ceasefire was violated yet again by the Pakistani troops throughout the Sunday night. According to the BSF, Pakistan rangers resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling throughout the Sunday night in Arnia and R S Pura area. About 20 BSF Border out Posts were affected by the fire, still troops maintained restrain and retaliated in a calibrated manner. Any reports of loss of life or material have not been reported so far. New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that India is a ‘Hindu nation’ has drawn flak from various political parties. SP leader Rajendra Chaudhary said that RSS has a communal policy and always tried to divide the nation on communal lines. Meanwhile, BJD leader Jay Panda said that culturally Bhagwat’s statement is not wrong as majority of population in India is Hindu, but added that if the statement was meant to be communal it is unfortunate. Court sends suspected Pakistan agent to judicial custody

Meerut, Aug 18 (ANI): A court in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh has sent suspected agent of ISI of Pakistan to judicial custody. The State Special Task Force arrested Asif Ali on Saturday (August 16) in Meerut. Ali is indicted of transferring primary information about the Indian Army to the ISI. Public Prosecutor, Samar Bahadur Yadav, confirmed the court’s order. Ali was working as a cover at a shop in the city. He worked as a messenger and collected information related to the Indian Army and transferred money to his Pakistani associates. Kanpur, Aug 18 (ANI): A school in Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh has taken the initiative to teach computers to visually challenged students through talking software, which can help them become computer savvy. Software called JAWS (Job Access with Speech) is a computer screen reader programme that allows visually-impaired people to read the screen with the help of text-to-speech output. The students of ‘Kanpur Anddh Vidyalaya Junior High School’ are excited to use the software that enables them to cross the barriers imposed upon them by nature.
