New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): In a major blow to CSAT agitating students, the Supreme Court on Saturday rejected a petition seeking stay on the Union Public Services Commission preliminary examination, scheduled on Sunday. Violent clashes break out between BJP and JMM workers in Ranchi

Ranchi, Aug 23 (ANI): Violent clashes broke out between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Ranchi on Saturday while the former were holding a protest against Labour and Employment Minister Narendra Tomar. Tomar was shown black flag by the JMM workers two days after the State Chief Minister Hemant Soren received jeer from the crowd at an event where he shared dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The protest resulted in a clash between the JMM and BJP workers injuring many of them. Arun Jaitley commissions INS Kamorta

Vishakhapatnam, Aug 23 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday commissioned India's first indigenously-built stealth anti-submarine warfare INS Kamorta at naval dockyard in Vishakhapatnam. Jaitley also received the guard of honour at the event. The warship has been built by the state-owned Gardenreach Shipbuilders in Kolkata and is the first vessel in the Navy whose all weapon systems are manufactured indigenously. Oommen Chandy ready to compensate on revenue loss to Kerala due to liquor ban

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 23 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said ban on liquor policy in the state can prove to be a loss to the government but he is willing to overcome it. The Congress-led government in Kerala announced on Thursday that it would make Kerala alcohol-free in the next 10 years. The proposal was taken at a two-hour meeting at the chief minister’s residence. Chandy said the new policy will be applicable for the five-star hotels serving liquor from the next fiscal. Chandy added the policy will be submitted to the Kerala High Court on August 26. Chandy said the ban could cause three-fold problems to the state. The state Finance Minister KM Mani said the loss of revenue to the state due to the ban calculated for the upcoming fiscal is 1,811 crore rupees. Aug 23, 2014
