PM Modi visits Martin Luther King memorial along with US President Obama

Washington DC, Sep 30 (ANI): In a rare gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama jointly visited the memorial of Martin Luther King in Washington DC. Both the leaders together paid homage to the statue of the leader of African-American Civil Rights Movement. Modi and Obama drove straight to the Memorial after their summit level talks at the White House. As per initial plan, Modi was to go alone to pay the homage but in last minute change American president also decided to join him. Both the leaders took a round of the memorial and Obama was seen explaining significance of the site to Modi. Oct 1, 2014

India-US joint military exercise concludes

Ranikhet, Sep 30 (ANI): The 14-day joint military exercise between India and the US, which is aimed at strengthening and broadening inter-operability and cooperation between the two armies, concluded in Uttarakhand on Tuesday (September 30). The 'Yudh Abhyas' focused on key elements of command post exercise, field training exercise and expert academic exchanges in hill town of Ranikhet. The event, which kicked off on September 17, brought together troops of a mountain brigade of the Indian Army and a company and brigade headquarters of the US Army. The troops of both the sides executed a series of combined strategic drills for neutralisation of likely threats that may be encountered in the UN peace keeping operations. Oct 1, 2014

Petrol price cut by 65p from midnight

New Delhi, Sept 30 (ANI): Petrol price has been slashed by 65 paise a litre effective from midnight tonight. Petrol will now be sold at Rs. 67.86 per litre from midnight in New Delhi. "Petrol prices have continued to show a downward trend. The current levels of international oil prices and INR-USD exchange rate warrant a decrease in selling price of petrol in the domestic market," said Indian Oil in a statement. Diesel prices are also likely to be cut by about Rs.1 per litre, the first reduction in rates in over five years. However, the cut will wait for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return from the US.
