Patna, Oct 07 (ANI): An enquiry committee conducted an open court hearing for the stampede victims in Patna on Tuesday in which 32 people were killed on the occasion of Dussehra on October 03.Most of the killed were women and a few children. Officials had said the stampede happened as people were leaving at the end of the event. Additional Director General of Police, Gupteshwar Pandey, who was present at the hearing, said they will take any decision only after they have heard the grievances of all the victims. Patna police had said some people reported that had they heard a rumour that a live electric wire had fallen on the public ground and it quickly spread through the crowd, prompting a rush for the gates. Meteorological department releases cyclone warning in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 07 (ANI): Meteorological department in Odisha released a warning on Tuesday for a cyclone developing over the Bay of Bengal and expected to hit the state's coast by October 12. In October 2013, Cyclone Phailin - country's fiercest storm in 14 years - had smashed into the coastline of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, flooded swathes of farmland and ripped apart tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes. Director of Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar city, Sarat Chandra Sahu said the depression would move in a West-North-westerly direction and intensify into a deep depression within 24 hours and further intensify into a cyclonic storm thereafter. However, he urged people not to panic. Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured that the state is ready to handle any such eventuality. Oct 7, 2014

Akhnoor/ Flora/ New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged fire in the disputed Kashmir region on Tuesday and four Indian civilians were wounded, a day after the highest civilian death toll in a single day from their cross-border conflict in more than a decade. Director General of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), DK Pathak said that Pakistan forces fired at 40 Indian army posts early on Tuesday. The two sides have been trading fire and counter-accusations since the violence erupted last week. Meanwhile, people living along the de-facto border were living in fear due to continuous firing. Pakistan's foreign ministry said it had lodged a protest with Indian diplomats over the killings of its civilians.
