Politicos react as Sharad Pawar talks of referendum on Vidarbha

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Political reactions flowed on Monday after NCP Chief Sharad Pawar talked of a referendum on the separate state of Vidarbha, carved out of Maharashtra. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that there should be no place for referendum in democracy regarding division of states. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that all work should be done within the constitutional limits and placing a referendum does not come within it. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that when Congress and NCP were in power they did not do anything for the state's development and now when it is time for accountability they are coming up with election stunts. Ahead of Maharashtra polls, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar had said that the Election Commission should hold a referendum in the Vidarbha region over demand for a separate state. He had also said that NCP will respect the separate Vidarbha verdict if it gets majority vote. Oct 13, 2014
