New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said on Friday that the Opposition keeps changing stand over the issues raised by them. Naidu said that all demands of Opposition are being met but they do not know what they actually want. He also demanded the Congress party to explain why it did not take any action against its own ministers for using foul language during their tenure. Further Naidu said that Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti is a minister and she will equally take part in election campaigns in Delhi and other states. Dec 5, 2014

Hundreds of Kashmiri youth attend Indian army recruitment rally

Budgam, Dec 05 (ANI): Hundreds of youth, on Friday attended an army recruitment rally in Jammu and Kashmir. Around 9,000 youths participated in the rally, which was held in Budgam district. On the final day of the recruitment rally, written examination was conducted. After physical and medical tests, only 540 were allowed to give the written exam. A local youth, Mushtaq Ahmed, said employment was a major reason for them to attend the rally. A recruitment officer, Brigadier Adil Mehmood, said this recruitment rally gave employment opportunities in the valley, which was hit by devastating floods in September. Unemployment is a major issue in the conflict-torn region of Kashmir. During the election rallies in the poll-bound state, every political party has promised youth of employment. Dec 5, 2014

Justice VR Krishna Iyer passes away

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): Legendary jurist VR Krishna Iyer, who made judicial activism respectable, died at Kochi hospital after a lifetime spent fighting for human rights and justice for the weak. The former Supreme Court judge was in hospital for a week for age-related complications and pneumonia and the cause of the death was renal and cardiac failure. The funeral will be held here at 6 pm on Friday. Krishna Iyer is survived by two sons. Iyer was born on November 15, 1915. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respect to Iyer. He tweeted saying, _Fine lawyer, eminent jurist, incredible philosopher and above all a phenomenal human being. I bow to Justice Krishna Iyer. My association with Justice Krishna Iyer was special. At least 14 people lost eyesight after undergoing cataract surgery at NGO_s eye camp in Punjab

Amritsar, Dec 05 (ANI): At least 14 people have lost their vision after cataract surgery at an eye camp organized in by an NGO in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. The people who lost their sight are all above the age of 60 and from the village Gago Mahal in Amritsar. The NGO worked in violation of health safety rules. Around 60 people signed up for the eye camp at a charitable hospital in Gurdaspur district. The patients were given eye drops and asked to report back on November 29 for cataract removal. On removing their bandage, about a dozen said they could not see. The camp is believed to have taken place in _severely unhygienic conditions_. An Amritsar civil surgeon is inquiring into the eye camp. Dec 5, 2014

India plans to revamp age old postal network

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): India plans to revamp age old postal network for extending services in the fields of banking, insurance and e-commerce in the country. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said that vast network of postal department must be leveraged to promote creativity. A task force on leveraging the post offices network of the country among others had suggested setting up of three subsidiaries as a part of a holding company under the postal department under the ministry of communication and information technology for extending services in the fields of banking, insurance and e-commerce. After releasing the report submitted by the task force, Prasad said that postal department needs to rediscover themselves. It was proposed that a new postal law may be enacted to give statutory basis for these operations. Dec 5, 2014

Baramullah/ Srinagar, Dec 05 (ANI): Militants on Friday opened fire at 31 field regiment Army camp in Baramullah district of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack by the militants is ongoing as firing continues in the Uri sector of the district. Meanwhile earlier on Thursday, unidentified militants hurled a grenade at the house of apolitical leader_s relative in Jammu and Kashmir. The ill-fated house belonged to Bashir A Wahi, who is relative of People_s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tariq Hameed Karra, in Srinagar. Security forces immediately rushed to the place and cordoned off the area. Nobody was injured in the attack.
