Politicos react as Mamata & Omar fail to attend PMs meeting over new Planning Commission

New Delhi/ Kolkata, Dec 07 (ANI): Political leaders on Sunday react as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah failed to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with state CMs on new Planning Commission. BJP Spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that such meetings are meant for welfare of the states and Banerjee failing to attend the same would only harm people of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that there can be other reasons and engagements for Banerjee for not attending the meeting and Abdullah may be busy with the state polls. PM Modi held the meeting at his residence 7 Race Course Road in New Delhi. In the meeting, discussions took place on the structure and role of the new body that will replace the Planning Commission. Politicos & Social activists demand action against Uber cab driver for alleged rape case in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 07 (ANI): Political leaders on Sunday demanded action against the Uber taxi service driver who allegedly raped a woman who was returning from a dinner party in Gurgaon on Friday night. BJP Spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that police is taking action and that the government will not tolerate crime against women. Congress leader Rashid Alvi also condemned the incident and demanded action on the same. Meanwhile, women rights activists and social activists also condemned the incident and said that it is unfortunate that such incident take place under the very nose of the central government. Ranchi, Dec 07 (ANI): The martyred soldier Lt Col Sankalp Shukla was given Guard of Honour on Sunday before his body could be cremated. Shukla laid his life fighting against militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector on Friday. He had also reportedly sustained bullet injuries in a militant attack about 10 years back. The soldier is survived by his wife and two daughters. Srinagar, Dec 7 (ANI): Indian Army on Sunday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition used by militants during the latest encounter in Handwara town of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the reports, these arms and ammunitions were used in the gunfight between the Army and the militants during the second phase of assembly polls in Handwara on Tuesday. Also recovered were arms used during a gun battle in Uri sector, near the heavily militarized border with Pakistan, on Friday when militants sneaked into an Indian military camp killing 11 soldiers and police officials. Mathura, Dec 7 (ANI): A 27-year-old woman was allegedly raped by the driver of a cab that she hired through Uber from Vasant Vihar area. The incident took place when she was returning from Gurgaon on Saturday night. A rape case has been registered at Sarai Rohilla police station and the accused has been booked under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. The cab was later recovered by the Police in Mathura on Sunday along with the driver's mobile phone, which was switched off. According to the reports, the driver has been detained by the police. Assam, Dec 7 (ANI): India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel recovered a huge quantity of explosives from Bokajan town in Assam. The explosives, including 86 packets of gelatin sticks, 30 packets of detonators, and 286 metres of cable wires, were seized from a bus which was coming from Shillong and was heading to Dimapur. The CRPF has arrested the two drivers of the buses and will conduct the further investigation to find out whether any militant outfit was indulged.
